Why would you want one? You’ll be changing its diapers for the next 30-40 years, they can’t be toilet trained, they get aggressive as soon as the “cute” infant stage is over, they bite, they destroy everything, and they carry potentially fatal diseases. I certainly wouldn’t want one as a pet...
Shantel Staton Rhesus macaques are smaller, only about 16/18 pounds when full grown. This baby is probably about 1 month old and at that age they only weigh about 1 pound. Have you watched any videos of Paisley Macaque? She is a bonnet macaque and either 3 or 4 years old (I forget which). In my opinion, her owner is raising her exactly how a pet monkey should be raised. Paisley is loving and well behaved because of the way she had been raised and trained. If you haven't seen any of her videos, I would definitely check them out. Also, Shaki and JK (I can't remember their owner's name, my memory is going!) are pigtail macaques. They are two full-grown, gentle, and well trained macaques. If you know how to treat a monkey and how to train it they can be good pets but there are very few people who have the mentality to own them. That is why so many monkeys become dangerous and unmanageable. The owners then blame the monkey and end up rehoming them or sending them to a sanctuary. You have to establish yourself as the alpha and maintain that status while treating them in a kind and loving way. Paisley's and Shaki & JK's owners show how they do this without hitting or harming their monkeys. My Grandfather had a capuchin when I was a child. He was about 15 at the time. I loved to play with him and he never bit me or acted up when I was around. So, as I said, they can be good pets but only if you can be an alpha and are firm but kind.
