Artisans - José Javier Sánchez Hernández (Cold Forging)

José Javier Sánchez Hernández (1964). He was born in Sanzoles in the province of Zamora. In addition to being the President of the Asociación Amigos del Zangarrón de Sanzoles, he presides over the Federación de Asociaciones de Mascaradas de Zamora (MascaraZA). He is the maker of the mask that is used in the Zangarrón Function made of leather and of other replicas of the same mask for museums. He also creates sculptures using the cold forge technique with an oxide finish, using carbon steel and recycled iron from various farm implements or discarded objects from everyday life (camping gas bottles, picachones, frying pans...). The tradition that is very present in his life is also present in the sculptures where he recreates it.
