This man is so noble. His interview in Claude Lanzmann’s “Shoah” was devastating.

His closing words about the message of how big crimes start with small hatred can’t be more true in today’s times

I see this in the USA with the " underclass" so quickly being priced out of a roof over their heads.
Quickly, the people still housed , point at the homeless as a "leper class" and you can see the blame and dehumanizing happening.
Much of it is fear that they may be next, or arrogance in thinking they have their act together, so they will be fine.
Never forget God. You will keep your soul.

Great quote 42:24 "The Jews had no chance during the war. They were doomed because, on the allied side, they had tremendous issues: saving humanity, unconditional surrender, destruction of German war potential, ..., and on the Jewish side, they did not have their own country, they had nobody, they had no army, they had no representative in the inter-allied war council. They had no voice. You understand? "

A wiser man couldn't have expressed such eloquence of things. Whether it was good or bad of things he heard or saw. May it make us think on lucky we are to hear this account of historical events.

      He speaks just before that.....
      He said....he was a nobody.....he was a tape recorder.
Poor man.....such guilt, the messenger always takes it.
He spoke to all so many of them...
Then after , in this interview he speaks....
He felt disgusted ...they said we didn't know....
      They knew.

He changed uniforms with a regular enlisted soldier, not knowing what was planned for the Polish nobility, government higher ups and military officers and commanders. His story is one of the most compelling, intriguing stories from WWII and the Holocaust. What an extremely intelligent man who could recite almost entire books of poetry from memory.

Jews were welcome in many European nations, including Denmark, Holland, Czechoslovakia, Romania and Hungary. There were many Righteous Among Nations there. Many other countries tolerated Jews, but denied them the same privileges and occupations as Christians. Jews were allowed to live in Poland, but the population by and large did not like them.

Christian Catholicism and the intolerance it spreads towards non-Catholic people still remains a large political and social instrument in the hands of Polish clergy. A 1000 years of brainwashing won't just go away so easily. Karski, being a Catholic and at the same time not being a hypocrite, hateful person is in a minority. This is a man of exceptional moral integrity. They don't make them like that anymore.

He did not participate personally in saving Jews or hiding their identities from Germans. Some Poles, especially catholic priests wished hide the Jews, they really had saved Jewish lives. The number of Polish The Righteous Among The Nations has reached to 1000 in the Yad Vashem registry.

It couln't have been that bad for Jews in Poland since there was the biggest Jewish population in the world there before the war. I don't know about Poles liking or disliking Jews in those days, but from what I know Jews liked to keep themselves separate, for example of the whole pre-war Jewish population in Poland only 10% spoke Polish, so it must have been hard to keep any dialogue in those days.
