    It´s cool and curious. - In 1965 ( I´m from `54 ) ) I wasn`t allowed to visit them in Liverpool club. Their image was dirty ! I love my first bought LP "Get the picture" and I mistreated my parents with the EP including " LSD" - Now in 2019 - we feel,what great kind of music it was ( sometimes is..) Still love timeless "SF Sorrow" . Thank you guys for compairing me `till today..

    I grew up listening to to them on a distant time and space, far south in Argentina, sheer luck was, hidden, right there, the singles up to 1970, 35 years later, and that was it fore i was hooked on them. Defecting Gray started and 😨🤯

    If I went to a Pretty Things gig in 1969 and I thought saw Norman Wisdom dancing on a table I would say that would be a pretty wild trip...

    this is quite a good film. i am a fan of norman wisdom but this was quite a diffrent film for him, a lot more adult and serious. Kind of like a 1960s version of american beauty and well worth a watch.

    the mod movement still going , but the clothes and music had moved on ,by the late 60’s. It was never meant to stay the same

      ... Which is ironic, because each of the subsequent mod revivals has had the flavour of an Historical Reenactment Society.

    If you had long hair in 1965 or so you were called a mod. By 1966 or 67 you were called a hippie.

    • @Exisles
      @Exisles 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mods mostly wore their hair short. Rockers had longer & greasy hair in the early 60's. Hippies were the next movement.

      Rubbish. Mods had short hair, and mods would have sweet FA to do with hippies.

    Considering 1990's sitcoms still featured punks as the current youth rebellion, I think this piece of light entertainment is being over analysed on it's representation of 'mod'. Although...were the Pretty Things 'mod' in 1964?

  • @peterstrange2685
    @peterstrange2685 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Pretty Things were never mods

  • @PAULLONDEN

    You got a point, but into the seventies those boundaries became somewhat less defined, around '69 though, if you described a bunch of hippies 'mod',they'd probably start a silly laugh routine.Marriott bytheway,was probably havin' a go at some interviewer,because around '65 mod was at it's zenith,about to be replaced by pop-art.

  • @liverpoolpictorial
    @liverpoolpictorial 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    This is not "Mod". By 1969, a harder version of Mod came out of working class housing estates in the UK. They were Skinheads who mainly listened to Reggae and Soul music.

      Dave Wood this looks like a bunch of hippies to me. What happened to mod towards the end of the 60's?

    • @EIKLURAM

      They released this in 1969 but it was really meant to be for or too late for the scene from 1966-67.There were Mods like Hippies but these people in this film seem like hedonists and not true to the hippie ideology of love and peace. It was the real hippies in California that had the death of the Hippie funeral ritual in October 1967 to make the statement that the ideology had been hijacked by the phony hippies and the capitalists. John Lennon said it was over when they televised All You Need Is Love on international TV To be honest I've never accepted it was a Communist conspiracy to promote promiscuity and psychedelic drugs. There was that aspect to it But there was the genuine appeal for that spirit of universal love and kindness which was a pity the police and governments didn't really share they wanted the world to become nature and the earth again. The US lost the Vietnam war and many do think that was because the ideology was created by the Communists. There is opposites to everything I guess if that makes sense. But the film was a flop because it was released too late. To love everyone would be to love the killers but that kind of interpretation could be by people who don't really get the true concept of them. I just think they were great and sad that I was born too late for that time in history. If I had a time machine that would be the time I would travel back into. Not to meet cunts like them though. Also George Bush senior said after Communism had been dismantled in the ear 90s 1991I thin that the had final got rid of Viet Nam War syndrome and soldiers would now fight the Muslims that the US had used to fight the Russians. This is how the Jews or the Capitalists or the People illuminati whatever you call the shadow government operate. But Hippies is really about peace and love and I wont accept that it wasn't really about that.

      When he entering the club there are two mods and they leave with scooters with some girls. Clearly this is mistitled since this is more of a british hippie thing yet there is one more mod inside the club.
