@rick niver I have taken this bike trew some pretty rough hills and no the tire will not dismount but by installing a 180 it does change the geometry of the tire because it is not made for the width of the katana rim I did it more for looks not performance if you are a hardcore hill rider I would stick with what the bike came with
The 180 will be compressed on a 4.5 wheel which actually will give less contact with the road. Think of a egg and the pointed end versus the more rounded end.. looks awesome but js
what kind of lowering link did you get and how many inches did it went down? my 98 katana came with 2 adjustment lowering link and when i lower it down, its almost rubbing the fender under the seat without me sitting on it.btw it came with 180 tires too and i love it
heeey wzzup i bought and installed already a 180 and seems pretty well the mechanic looked pretty eskeptic about that size, he thought that only a miracle would do the job, he said that the chain would obstruct the movement, but at the installment, everything ran smoothly just as your bike, i felt pretty annoyed because if it doesn't fit i would have to change it for a cheaper and slimmer tyre, but at the end the tyre, runs excellent and everyone who say that a katana can't fit a 180 is wrong
@loboxido....... Yes you can run a 180 with no mods. Any 180 tire will work on that bike. Good luck with that and I will look for a video soon from you. Thanks for the complement.
@ loboxido So I take it that it worked? I have been running a 180 for about a year now and am on my second tire that is another brand and I am havenig no problems at all with the chain or anything. Good luck and post a vid of your bike.
I have a 2001 katana 750 i was thinkin doin the same puttin a 180 tire. Will i have any problem with handling or somethin and does it fit on the stock rim thanks buddy!
katanabrett, I just got a katana (K6) similar to yours, and the previous owner had fitted a 180 rear tyre without swingarm mods. I read somewhere that fitting the 180 tyr on the factory rim may cause it to dismount the rim under normal riding conditions. Did you ride / corner aggressively with the 180 tyre? If you did, that would remove some of my fears. Thanks in advance.
dude, i've got a 2003 same as yours, can i put a 180 with no prob as you? btw sweet ride you got out there! you gve me certain ideas to custom keep the good work :)
Confirmed. Just installed on a stock 2000 katana. Looks great!

Good stuff!
Did you ever have any problems about the tire size? İ am thinking to do the same thing. İs it ok? 4.5inches wheel 180 tire? Will it be ok?
Bonjour.
Le pneu en 180 55 17 va dans la jante d origine ou vous avez dû mettre une jante plus large ?

Id read deeper into it or call a Suzuki Dealership and ask a Certified Tech to be safe!
Im about to buy tires for my kat k6 does the 180/55/17 wear does it wear evenly or does it just wear in the center of the tire?
Look at the new Mich. Pilot 2ct! Dual compound and harder in the center for more straight line riding!
btw i want to buy a michelin pilot power in 180 you think it can fit?
@freethug
LOL You ask I will deliver....... Hopes this helps you with your bike.

I just lower my katana but I have problems with the kickstand how you did yours
you have to cut and shorten it.
thanks man
Cut and weld it!
hey man how did you polish the lip on your rims? thanks
Never Dull! Pick it up at your local auto store!
info in where did you purchase the front forks spikes???
Ebay!
Is the handling better with bigger tires
Especially on the corners?
