“I’m the reason you don’t go near Aaron again.” God, Cain can be so unlikeable sometimes. But then there are moments like this - and later, during the Gordon storyline - where he’s a supportive uncle to Aaron that I can’t help but love.
Paddy should at least have some sort of understand of why assisted suicide can be good. He's a vet. We put animals down when they are too sick or injured. At least Jackson knew what was happening and consented. Animals can't consent, but we euthanize them to help them be free from pain or illness. Why is there a double standard between humans who can consent and animal who cannot?
I’m sorry, but Lizzie was out of order here. Yes, she is disabled - but that doesn’t give her the voice of all disabled people. Jackson’s disability was vastly different and he made a decision. It’s unfair for Lizzie - who didn’t even interact with Jackson - to make a judgement about his mental state based on her own experiences with a different disability, and it’s unfair of her to say what she did to Hazel.
“If there’s anything I can do to help.” I dunno, Edna. Maybe not go up to her and openly say that you don’t think what she did was right? There was absolutely no need for her to do that.
Also, the fact that she says “no one can punish you more than your own conscience.” Bold, coming from the woman who had a gay man imprisoned. Arguably, she’s coming from “experience” when she says this to Hazel - but I wonder how much she truly regrets it when she kept it a secret for so long? And still maintains her pious attitude towards others? I really had my ups and downs with Edna’s character. But when she had her bad moments, they truly were frustrating - moments like this, for example.
I am surprised Chas didn't deck Hazel @ 8:14 which would have been happy to see if I am honest for what she and Jackson have just put Aaron through. Chas is right if Jackson really loved Aaron he would never have put him in that position in the first place. For the people who think that what Hazel and did to Aaron was right beautiful, why did he start self harming, why did he get so angry with Hazel and throw away all of of Jackson's things, if it was the right and beautiful thing to do then Aaron would have been fine and he would about Jackson more but he doesn't he pretends that Jackson and Hazel never existed.
