- Owning nothing that you pay for. Kids opening promises as gifts. Companies profiting yet YOU have nothing to show for it. Not being able to run to the store & buy what you’re looking for. It’s the end of physical media. In person shopping for all products post Covid has drastically changed.

I bought it from Walmart on PS5 but here’s the kicker, the damn game isn’t really on the disc!
I had to download seemingly 80%. The disc these days aren’t even including a full game. It’s utterly ridiculous and should be illegal.
The sad truth of it is that we are the minority---those who see it for what it really is, which is another way to control everything we own (or in this instance, don't own).
Equally sadly, the vast majority of the population fall in line and blindly lap up the latest convenience without batting an eye, only to one day be slapped across the face with the stark reality of what they've allowed to happen. But by then, it will have been too late. It's a song as old as time: the velvet glove of convenience hides the iron fist of control.
It really is a sad reality. Unlike many, I never folded and stuck to physical media (especially games) as much as I possibly could. I even avoided several "only digital" games in protest. Unfortunately, too many have drank the koolaid of "convenience" and now we all suffer.
Same. As fun as games like ‘High on Life’ etc look, I just can’t do it.
The price tag on the game included the box and disc. So, without it. The digital should, by default, cost 10 bucks less. Why am I paying full price for part of the intended product. Oh hey, dlc didn't see you there
Right. Pay them and own nothing. They can take it back or change it anytime they want
Do you have any examples of when that actually happened?
@@accordgolferif a wrestler gets in trouble for something, then they will remove them from the game.
@@MichaelYianni-sn3wm and a physical copy will prevent this?
@@accordgolfer if you buy a game on disc & a wrestler gets in trouble or leaves for AEW or somewhere then they can't edit your disc. If it's just online then they can.
Nintendo is the only one staying physical. Microsoft might cut the cord on it soon and if they do Sony will probably follow
We still don’t know what the “Switch 2” will be like. So don’t rule Nintendo out to follow suit with an all digital too.
Physical was dead at the start of this console generation. Realistically even the consoles are kind of worthless due to having to register and activate online... the day the activation services go offline the consoles are likely bricked.
As far as WWE 2K it seems the 40 years of Mania is digital only... The Standard and Deluxe are physical but due to some of the last min edits I imagine the physical copies have been slow to reach stores.
I have the physical deluxe edition WWE2K24 for PS4 even yes they have them. I agree with you I have to have physical too am a collector as well
This goes into the category of "You will own nothing and be happy" They got the first part right.
Only time i buy physical games is if i dont know ill like it, if i know ill like it id rather buy digital cut out the middle man let devs/publisher get more money for making the product i want, i still buy physical movies and series but games not so much
It’s sucks but it’s how the world is now. I predicted to my friends like in 2019. That well this would happen even. An well I was right. An like in terms of a business perspective it’s kinda smart. Because well i mean I don’t know for sure. However digital sales on media have probably gone up in the last few years. Especially when Covid hit and we were forced to stay indoors. An digital is more convenient short term. All I have to is download and hit play and it launches. However it is not convenient in the long term aspect. It is not convenient because what if I want to go back and play WWE 2k24 in 50 years. An it turns out I can’t because Microsoft shutdown the servers for the game on Xbox. An like I mean it could most likely happen. It sucks I don’t like it but it is how it is. An this is all going to get worse before it gets better.
Just like Xbox 360 has stated this July servers & store will be killed.
1. Walmart does delivery (either to your house or you pick it up from the store they deliver to).
2. Amazon
3. Amazon
4. Deal with it
You’re spending $60 on the experience to play something it takes people years to make. I’m not talking about 2k24 at this point. Also I’m a consumer, I may not “agree” but I understand why everything is going digital now. Save money and while saving money. Less manufacturing disc copies. Easier to get into the consumers hands (virtually).
The amount of time and effort that goes into making video games for the possibility of critics to hate the game is absurd. I think there should be monthly payments to be able to play the games. Hell, we don’t complain about movie subscriptions when we “used” to buy them physically. Why can’t that be a possibility for the gaming industry? But it will be, mark my words. Netflix killed Blockbuster. Who will kill GameStop? When you’re eventually not given an option, you will concede.
Physical maybe not as convenient but always better because you never know with these companies nowadays when they will pull the plug and say “oh you can’t play this now, it’s in the terms you skipped over.”

I couldn't listen in because of the buzzing but I buy all my big releases physically for the discounts. 2K24 was £15 cheaper to get on disk in fact.
Noted. Thanks!
If it can be digital eventually it will all be digital.
just don't buy it at all if your only choice is perma-rental
Physical media has been dead for years. Games and DVDs are printed 2-3 months ahead of release, so what happens is an incomplete copy of the game is printed on the disc. When the release comes, 2-3 months of bug fixing and polishing is done and they release a day 1 patch. Even if the game is on a disc, it likely requires an update to function without being a glitchy mess, so the physical release is rendered useless anyway.
There is no incentive for developers to do physical releases because it leads to that copy of the game circulating and ending up in used games stores, thus causing them to lose digital sales from 1 copy getting multiple users.
I agree when it comes to gaming
I like to buy my games, because i see playing the game as getting paid (very little) to play because after i beat it i sell it recouping back some of the cost, but you can't do that with digital. I only get digital if its a really big sale. Plus look at it on the bright side, game discs are becoming rare, so your collection will start becoming more valuable as you get your hands on some of those Xbox disc games that will be hard to find soon!
The problem with that though is that anything that you don't have that you want will become expensive & overpriced too!
I got mine at. Best buy lol
Good
Death of Xbox mate not physical media
