All animals react to "cortisol" the moment you start fearing something, they'll attack you, or try to get away from you in a hurry.
Why? because when you are in fear and acting out, you put everything around you into Danger, because you aren't thinking clearly enough not to.
that's why animals react to it.
it's also the reasoning behind why they say a bull wont hit you if you stand perfectly still, or if you calm down and play dead in front of a bear.
it's being calm and not producing the hormone cortisol causing them to panic.
i've tested this on Bees and wasps, you get "scared" they'll sure enough sting you.
