Two weeks ago I bought my first one hand opener, the QSP Penguin! This channel helpt me to decide and once again the Penguin in on the list. This is I believe the only knife that is ''also'' €32,- in the Netherlands. Basically every other knife on this list is above €50. Euro is worth slighty more than dollar atm. For example, Knafs Lander 1 is €84,95 for G10 or €99,95 for Micarta. You could say it's a American brand, oke but, Miguron Moyarl €53, Velona €59. Cheapest Sencut Sachse is €59,95, Ontario Rat-2 €66,45 etc. Greetings from the Netherlands
A nice honerable mention for those who like smaller 5th pocket knives would be the kizer banish. Its a great EDC knife for those smaller task, and with 154cm and MICARTA handles it’s a good choice for 45 dollars
I love the Penguin, I have a Kaviso exclusive that was around $100 but still totally worth it. The CJRB Pi-Lite is by far my favorite under $50 knife that I have now. The way I feel about it is similar to how you feel about the Skaha (if the skaha was a lot cheaper of course 😂) but It has become a go to for me without having to give too much thought.
I know it's slightly over $50, at $50.84 on Amazon, but... Cold Steel Air Lite. With 3.5" of AUS10A (which I'm pretty sure can actually out-perform 14C28N and I believe even D2), G10, and a Tri-Ad lock... plus it's very lightweight... all for $51... cannot beat that, IMHO at least.
I've been watching the price drop on that, and trying to decide between the drop point and tanto. Do you find the texture on the handle rough on your jeans, or is it fine?
@@Bethany415 most cold steel knives are gonna be a little bit tough on your pants and pockets. I like to take the clip off, or just run some sandpaper underneath it and sand the G10 smooth.
no i agree so much. aus10 is massively underrated. if you goto midway usa they have the ad15 lite and 4max scout for under $50 last time i checked. dude they had the 3v master hunter for like $80 lol, midway always has ridiculous cold steel sales
the voyager 4 inch clip point is also a stupid good budget tank. i ruined mine by abusing it at work but it’s such a tank. aus10 from cold steel also gets RIDICULOUSSSSSLY sharp with zero effort
I have a bunch of Boker Kalashnikovs, and they are fantastic (absolutely love the unofficial "Star Wars" colorways). I've carried and used one of the XHP models for years. The aluminum coloring of the scales is almost all worn away, but the action is still factory snappy, and the blade is still in amazing shape after tons of use and sharpening.
I've saved this video to a list. Thank you! I've been EDC the Sanrenmu 7010 for years, because for $20 it was a steal. I think I'm ready to upgrade to something from your list...so many good options. I might actually grab a Mini Pyrite
Still love and still carry my Civivi Riffle. Originally it was a little more than 50 and now it's discontinued but they can still be found today for under $50. Awesome list MC.
Hands down best under $50 EDC in my opinion is the Swisstech Wurdig. 30 bucks at Wally World and the thing is built like an absolute tank, AUS8 steel and perfect pocket size and flipping action. I carry it more than any of my knives and I have a collection that could choke a metal detector.
Honestly, pretty much the same for every new steel. I'm old enough to remember when things like 8cr were raved over as the "best steel of all time." (and before) All the steels that knife snobs poo-poo as "trash" these days were at one time "premium." Just because better steels have been developed doesn't mean those older steels aren't still good.
I would love CJRB take this knife Pyrite and make a version that has Top Liner Lock like a different brand knife has Raccoon - Top Liner Lock (3.25" 14C28N Blade & Micarta Handle) - A2901
Just a heads up, I cut the crap out of my palm with my Pyrite Light flicking it closed like I’ve done with dozens of other knives thousands of other times. Maybe it’s just my hand size, and I’m not saying the knife is poorly designed, but I basically took it out of the rotation because of this issue. Never had a problem with the regular pyrite doing that. Only other knife I’ve ever had bite me was a CJRB Hectare and that was only a small scrape. The Pyrite Light did at least a half inch slice on my palm and needed a bandage.
Ganzo knives make a knife that is similar to the Rat 2 with an axis lock and they make a knife that is similar to the Spyderco Delica and both can be had for under $25. Great little knives for the price point.
Hey I have a question 🙋♂️. My cousin is in the armed forces and I wanted to get him a new blade for each of his promotions but I wanted each blade blade design to from different parts of the world. Any recommendations on knife/sword makers?
I seriously can’t wait for the lander 2 in contoured micarta to become available. I wish they would offer it with 14c for a cheaper price that the s35vn.
I know it’s not under $50 but it’s very close and maybe on sale it is but the qsp bison is a great entry level fixed blade, I’ve gone multiple out as gifts to people new to outdoors, bushcraft and survival, it’s just a great package, I wish it was 14c but the d2 doesn’t seem to be chippy, it must be the thicker stock.
I’d say that the akc otf’s should be considered along with the lightning, I’ve got a lightning and a couple akc’s. I think it’s the f16 model I like the best.
I just got my Pyrite Light in today, and I love it. That little bit of extra handle makes it so much more comfortable than my Pyrite Alt. I have a question: What do you think of the Boker Strike models? It looks like they solve the ergonomic problems of the Kalashnikov models and are only a couple of dollars more on average. They also don't look as goofy to my eye, but that'll be so subjective.
Hey metal complex, I love your videos, and I think TH-cam rules don’t effect your monetization butttt i think it would be a fire idea if you had a website. Somewhere you could make blogs about top 10 or 20 lists, and link various sites and also link your TH-cam videos. (I love this video series abt best knives under a certain budget, I wanted to know what all the knives looked like and was hoping for chapters which I know is a lot of work, which gave me the idea of a site) Cheers
I think you are backwards. All of my lighting otfs have broke or just fail, NONE of my lighting elite otf's have broke or failed. And at least with k110 you know what you are getting
The big and mini beluga are still probably my two of my favorite knives. Also the acoustics are great, especially with the front flipper. Also I feel like some Ganzo knives should be up here.
I feel like people don’t understand in California auto knives are perfectly legal to have in your home, business or shop. You just can’t carry more the a 2in auto in public. How do you transport them, quietly, mail to self, idk ask an attorney
Of course. First prize is an inflated ego and a scoop of puffed up pride. I have seen this in other websites and I always have to ask myself," how important is it??"
The problem with these knives is there is no resale value. So if you want to clean out your collection, you just end up giving these away to your nephews.
The lander is a terrible knife. It's hot spot city with poor action. The guys who make it may be nice but it's junk. If it was during the Dozier era of cheap knives it's ok but not today.

don’t like chinese knives don’t buy them dude. show me an american made knife with these materials and the excellent fit and finish these knives have for under $50. the only american made knives ik of that cheap are bear ops (dog shit knives) and the buck 110 slim select which is an awful plastic handle with a shit pocket clip and 420hc which doesn’t perform anywhere near d2, 14c, nitro v, 9cr, etc.
Fantastic list as usual! I still have the Pyrite as my favorite budget knife and I have 4 of them including the large. My mini Praxis is probably my second favorite and I only say I like it better than the full size because it has snappier flipping action. I’m a premium whore now but there is always room for a solid budget banger!

Yeah and somehow it manages to have a great detent for the hole and front flipper despite being a button lock
Banish really is awesome.
Just picked up a Pyrite Lite on Amazon prime day for $29. Insane deal! I wasn’t even shopping but why not!!
Really like the rapid fire format!

Great list! Luv my Beluga.
Love my Sencut Crowley in jade G10!
The thumb studs on it suck lmao
Great Job!! Thanks for thte info.
The parrot was my first folder knife. I had to hunt hard for the v1 version with the washers instead of the ball bearings for the v2 version.
I remember when D2 was an absolute selling point. Like the whole reason you were buying a knife was for the D2
Back when benchmade still made quality knives
@@trevordelarosa3599 it’s been a minute since I had a new one, but does benchmade now make low quality knives? That honestly seems surprising

Great list.
I would have considered putting up the SRM9201 on there too.
So I have a few of the ones on your list but now I have found myself “needing” a Ruike P801. 😊
Budget friendly knives are more of a guilty pleasure. Even though they usually end up in my desk drawer.
They are irresistible and I can stop myself.
I would love CJRB take this knife Pyrite and make a version that has Top Liner Lock like a different brand knife has Raccoon - Top Liner Lock (3.25" 14C28N Blade & Micarta Handle) - A2901
The Sencut Serene is still my sub $50 knife pick.

I’ve had this happen with one of the newer Kershaws too!
I bought the penguin that has S35VN. I like that way better than the original model that I bought. I think that this is a great knife.
Pretty cool video. I had no idea that some of these existed and all I do is look at knives all day. 😂
I have one of those Ruike knives and i just realized watching your video that it has the same thumb studs as my Sebenza31.
Ganzo knives make a knife that is similar to the Rat 2 with an axis lock and they make a knife that is similar to the Spyderco Delica and both can be had for under $25. Great little knives for the price point.
Penguin was my 1st EDC based on your review (my first review that I saw of you).
You can get a Kizer Sheepdog (full size, not mini nor XL) in black micarta, black blade, liner lock for under $40 right now.
I just bought the Mini Paraxis for 30 box !! ^^

Kizer Amicus for 45€ is a very good choice
I wish the upgraded moyarl Ti &m390 would come in polished DLC and dark titanium liner lock
Can you imagine how much Benchmade would charge for the Pyrite in S30v if it were there design? All the Pyrite offering are great.
