दिलदारनगर रेलवे स्टेशन के मध्य अप दो लाइनों के बीच स्थित सायर माता के चौरा पर दर्शन-पूजन करने के लिए जनपद ही नहीं वरन दूर-दराज व अन्य जनपदों से भी श्रद्धालुओं के आने का क्रम जारी है। मंदिर की अलौकिक शक्तियां काफी प्रचलित हैं। माता की महिमा सदाफलदायी है। इसलिए प्रति वर्ष वासंतिक व शारदीय दोनों नवरात्रों में माता के भक्त यहां हाजरी लगाने के लिए अवश्य पहुंचते हैं। दो रेल लाइनों के बीच में स्थित शायर माता के चौरा की किवदंतियां भी काफी प्रचलित हैं। जब अंग्रेजी शासन काल में प्लेट फार्म संख्या चार अप लुप लाइन को बिछाने के दौरान अंग्रेज रेल इन्जीनियर जिसे उस समय प्लेटियर साहब के नाम से जाना जाता था, वह अपने मातहतों को रेलवे स्टेशन के पास झाड़-जंगल की सफाई के लिए कहा। रेल लाइन बिछाने के लिये की जा रही जंगलों की कटाई के दौरान एक विशालकाय नीम के पेड़ के नीचे एक छोटी सी मिट्टी की पिंडी दिखाई दी। इस बात की जानकारी मजदूरों ने अपने अधिकारी को दी। मजदूरों की बात अनसुनी करते हुए पेड़ को काटने का आदेश दिया। जब मजदूरों ने पेड़ काटने के लिए कुल्हाड़ी चलाई, तो उस तने से खून जैसा लाल द्रव्य निकलने लगा। यह देख मजदूर वहां से भाग खड़े हुए और जिन पांच मजदूरों ने पेड़ काटने का प्रयास किया था, उनकी बिना किसी कारण के ही मौत हो गयी। फिर भी अधिकारी इसे अंधविश्वास मानकर खुद नीम का पेड़ काटने का प्रयास किया। तब देवी के प्रकोप से उसका पांच वर्षीय पुत्र उसी रात मर गया। इसके बाद दूसरे दिन मां ने उस अंग्रेज अधिकारी को नीम पर अपना वास होने का स्वप्न दिखाते हुए उसे ऐसा करने से मना किया। उसने यह सारी बात अपनी पत्नी को बतायी, लेकिन पेड़ को काटने की जिद पर अड़ा रहा। तब पत्नी ने काफी समझाया। इसके बाद अधिकारी मान गया और वहां से लाइन को टेढ़ा बिछाने का फैसला लिया। अंग्रेज इंजीनिर के पुत्र का पीडब्लूआई बंगला परिसर में मौजूद कब्र, शायर माता की शक्ति का प्रमाण आज भी मौजूद है। मंदिर के महंत लालजी पाण्डये ने बताया कि माता के चमत्कार के जानने के बाद ग्रामीणों का हुजूम दर्शन के लिए पहुंचने लगा। इसके बाद से धीरे-धीरे माता की महिमा का प्रचार-प्रसार दूर-दूर तक होता गया और अब जनपद के लोग ही नहीं, वरन पूर्वांचल सहित बिहार, बंगाल, झारखंड प्रांत से भी श्रद्धालु यहां आकर श्रद्धापूर्वक माता के चौरा का पूजन-पाठ करते हैं।

After this, on the second day, the mother told that English officer to dream of her abode on Neem and forbade him to do so. He told all this to his wife, but remained adamant on cutting the tree. Then the wife explained a lot. After this the officer agreed and decided to lay the line crooked from there. The tomb of the son of an English engineer in the PWI bungalow complex, the proof of the power of the poet still exists today. Mahant Lalji Pandey of the temple told that after knowing about the miracle of the mother, the villagers started arriving for darshan.
