It is allowed to touch wood. It’s also better to touch paper with clean hands, because you can’t feel paper and have a better chance to rip it. The metal of the book was touched and opened using cloth, because metal deaerates with the oils on our hands.
Without wealth we wouldn't have those treasures, but just boring houses and cities. There will allways be people who have more than others, and very often - in old times allways - they were the keepers of art. And there are jealous persons out there... 😴🤭🤡

Especially when basic upkeep would suffice. Jealousy has not one thing to do with it because just like us these old places will eventually disappear.

And...if the money for public buildings is used to help the poor...where will you start, where will you stop. You can't save the whole world...unfortunately. That's a discussion for decades.
