    btw...
    Native tribes of Oregon, here in the U.S., called them "thundereggs" because they thought that thunder spirits that lived on the nearby mountains threw them at each other, and that made the rumbling noises in storms. The name stuck throughout the U.S., and then to other countries to identify anything that's a Chalcdedony/Agate nodule inside a Rhyolite egg.

    Excellent and so jealous of the rocks you find. HaHa
    I am ready to buy an orbital sander and polishing discs now. Last winter the price of grit more than tripled and I couldn't buy it. Kind of depressing but this summer it went back to the regular price so I bought enough to last all winter. Now I'm excited about getting the sander and pads and starting tumbling again... and polishing.

    • @Rookie_Rockounding
      @Rookie_Rockounding  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate! I know right, we are spoilt for nature’s treasures out here. I’m glad they brought the price back down to normal for the grit, it’s so depressing when it’s so expensive. I need to do another tumble real soon. I hate not hearing the soft soothing rumble sound coming from the garage 😉
      Oh man you are gonna love the polishing pads. It takes a while but well well worth it.

    We were digging in a dry creek bed in Mason, TX I found a big piece of Llanite. Because I was digging down into the bed, it was damp....saw the llanite and saw lots of light blue-ish purple spots and thought I had maybe found some opal! Hahahaha way off, but it is a nice big stone I found. • @Rookie_Rockounding
      @Rookie_Rockounding  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heyyyy cool mate. So I don’t have a brand I’m really using, just what I could find from the hardware store but they’re called a continuous diamond impregnated blade. The “continuous” means there’s no gaps or theeth type thing. I run a red brick through mine a couple times when it starts to cut slow and it cleans it up a bit better. Take it slow and steady and if you turn the tile saw around and pull the rock towards you, it’ll keep you dry and and I reckon gives better control sorta thing. I hope that helps. At the end of the video I popped a link to a how to cutting video.
