After wrapping up the Nothing recording session. Yo La Tengo booked a dinner at the tiny Soho restaurant I worked at to celebrate. At the time, I had been taking reservations on the phone during the day. Georgia Hubley called and made a reservation for dinner. I knew what was going on. I think I sent them dessert 🙏🙏🙏

I heard this band open up for Japanese Breakfast and Michelle said they looked up to them and she felt like an asshole playing after them lol. She secretly played the keyboards for them and they both played together afterwards, like I have never seen a headliner give so much respect for the opener!

Michelle is such an incredible person, Yo La Tengo is probably one of the bands she grew listening to, at least I got that vibe of her younger days from her book
I had an OBE when I saw them singing this live 25 years ago in NYC. Transformative. Current and future generations will never truly appreciate the music that came before them!

hello i am from australia and heard Yo La Tengo at a mate's place in Brooklyn in 2008. Since then, seen them live at the Sydney Opera House.

People often think this song is about anxiety, and sure anxiety is in there, but..
This song is about a wedding and he has cold feet. the thing he will have to say is vows and “i do” and he would rather say nothing, but to just be in the moment with her without titles. No wedding dress needed, just her autumn sweater. this is also why the room is crowded, he can’t hide because he is the groom.. unmissable. the waves are her tears from him not feeling like committing fully, not wanting marriage, just to be. but they cant be like it was in the beginning.
