Definitely gets my full stamp of approval, for what its worth! Everyone's doing it right! Great to see my old mates Ken Sims and Mike Pointon in the same line-up! Five stars! BT.
As a back line bassist I love the band to sit as it gives me a clear view of the floor should anything be thrown. Dave Moorwood plays great solid rhythm guitar as well as banjo, and what a repertoire of the obscure!!!!! Nice band! More closeups. I would like to see nore hair. Thanks. 5 stars.
Thank you for that. I've been playing Hot Jazz since the 70's. Ken Sims had hit records with Acker Bilk's band in the '50s and Mike Pointon worked with George Lewis, Cap'n John Handy, Alton Purnell and Albert Nicholas. Like all good music it is hard going in the UK as the media are not interested.
Great stuff! Love the two-cornet front line a la King Oliver; Wonderful breaks! The cornetist on the right has a really weird finger position, not that it affects the music at all (I'm a trumpet player so I noticed).
His grip reminds me that a lot of the original soloists were known to play with a towel over their hands to hide their fingerings from would-be copy cats.
@@AndreeewP Ha, ha, those days are long gone. I've done a lot of transcribing. You don't need to look at a guy's fingers to figure out what notes he's playing.
What a pleasure to hear this . Thank tou very much .
Fabulous!! Thankyou, John Petters and the band!
The spirit of Joe 'King' Oliver' hovers over you.
Great song and fantastic Jazz Band!

Thank you. I'll pass the message on to Mike. He is a super player
Que viva eternamente el jazz!
Hear's one you don't hear that often. John has gathered a bunch of excellent trad players for this festival.

I think this is cool. Brits doing Orleans style jazz. It seems to be more popular in England than in the USA.
I asked John Petters about this via an email, and he told me that Chez is playing left-handed. Unusual, eh?
this is a 5 stars video
