- Bird cage pendant with large spherical stone no holes - How to make jewelry from copper wire by Lan Anh Handmade
This sample can be used as a pendant or decoration, can be combined with stones or not
With this stone wrap way you can apply it to any stone shape you have ( have holes or no holes) . Most suitable is spherical stones, marbles or gravel form.
The wire size varies depending on the size of the stone you have
With this form you can use any type of wire or wire size you have. Smaller diameter wires are easier to handle, but they are less durable than larger wires.
In the video I use :
20 gauge ( wire diameter 0.8mm ) : 5 x 10cm( 4 inch)
28 gauge ( wire diameter 0.3mm ) : 220cm( 87 inch)
Spherical stone 1.4cm in diameter
TIPS :
- Before doing, Always be sure to straighten the wire for a more beautiful product
- Can use a towel to straighten the wire.
- Refer to how to straighten the wire here • Basic guide - straight...
- Can be replaced with silver wire or gold wire for jewelry more valuable
Or simply use cheap material like copper wire to make gifts for friends, family or for yourself
- I just give way reference, not the best way. Can change size wire to suit your purpose. You can do better than me.
- I bought all the material and stones in where I live (Vietnam)
I used to round copper wire - magnet wire , it's the only kind I found where I lived for many sizes. I do not know exactly what type it was, can be normal copper wire, it have plating layer, and not dark by time

Now your weaving is so much nicer than mine is....looks like you actually know how to basket weave. I don't. Also, I'm trying to figure out a design sort of like that so that people can put their own small stone or stones in it. Any ideas for something like that, Lan Anh? Perhaps make it in 2 halves with a hinge at the bottom and a closure at the top?

I am new to wire wrapping and weaving. I have tried this three different times with no luck because the wire keeps bending when I try to form the cage. Are you using 20g hard wire? And could you tell me the weave pattern you are using for the bottom so that I may see a tutorial on that weave? I have tried to slow down the video so that I may watch closer, but you are fast. you have to make the bottom flat, if it's not flat, you can make it concave inward, it will help the cage stand.
