It's way more than that. I consider myself a good listener, there are plenty of people which can do that part, but JJ understands and relates to most of the stuff his guests talk about. That combined with the fact he lets his guests speak and doesn't make assumptions makes them feel understood better than in most environments and they open up.
Admit it: This is way better than all those 'sportshows' combined. No narratives, assumptions.. just pure basketball talk from the ones who actually play it.

No need for the additional leading.

I think the reason those shows are so great is because there is mutual respect and trust between the people. Also the intention that these shows have: JJ doesnt want drama and get as big as possible. He wants to give the viewers which are interested, a real view behind the scenes.

JJ is legit getting the best interviews in basketball. He asks the questions journalists won’t get real answers to, but they answer him with next to no filter.
I think what's unique about it is that he could see what they were saying and there were so many clips out so fast with audio of what happen not that it happen on the court
