- Amazing original by this legendary Vancouver rapper. Enjoy!
Metaforezt (a.k.a. "D.Y." [Die Young]) was a well known Vancouver-area rapper who rose to prominence briefly during the early-to-mid 2000's. He was born Forrest Schab in Vancouver, British Columbia, during 1984. Here, Forrest and his family would live for the totality of his youth, adolescence and early adulthood.
Metaforezt/D.Y. was inspired to rap by a friend of his (who went by the alias "Slick J") and adopted the stage name "M.C.-B.C." early on. He had been making music independently since the age of fourteen, winning several "emcee" competitions along the way. D.Y.'s old friend Slick J started a label which he signed "M.C.-B.C." to in the late 1990's/early-2000's but ended up dying prior to the release (and potentially the recording of) of said material.
During the early-to-mid 2000's, Metaforezt/D.Y. came to prominence in Vancouver with the release of his two mixtapes: "Street Legal Vol.1: Strictly 4 E.V." and "Street Legal Vol. 2: Canada'z Nitemare."
During 2009, an album was in the making in cooperation with CP Record artist Belly. The album was titled "Vancouver Gangland". His first single from the album was "Passenger" featuring another CP Record artist Danny Fernandes was released in October 2009. Upon the album release, Metaforezt/D.Y. was featured on Billboard February 19, 2010 issue as one of the best emerging Canadian artists. A special remix version of by DJ Jedi was also released.
On November 18, 2010, DY was reported missing in Mexico. In mid-August 2010, Metaforezt/D.Y. made plans to fly to Mexico and disappeared with no one hearing from him for months. Canadian police were investigating his whereabouts. On December 10, 2010, his family released another statement expressing their grave worry regarding DY's disappearance. Various media sources speculate his disappearance is related to drugs and links to organized crime.
Just prior to his disappearance, he shot a music video for his second single called "That's My Spot" featuring former Danity Kane member D. Woods, and his contract with CP Records was terminated.
Metaforezt/D.Y. has been missing for 12 years, 4 months and 20 days.
