That was so bizarre.. we left the arena early - the last think we heard was the anoucement that denmark is the winner. Literally seconds later we're outside in front of HUGE trucks with printings on them that the next ESC is only 12km ober the bridge. FISHY.
Denmark winning is so fitting. Because the bridge that lowers in the stadium, represents the bridge between Malmö and Copenhagen. So when Emmelie de Forrest came over the bridge at the end it's like she was coming from Copenhagen to Malmö to accept the trophy.

2:20:53 finally I can officially see and listen to the Smorgasbord in the highest quality. One of Eurovision's best interval/opening acts ever. a great alternative after watching Junior Eurovision 2019 rehearsals.
The Netherlands entry was the best in 2013, this was the year that the Dutch really turned a corner at Eurovision after been stuck in the semi finals for the previous 9 years! Anouks Birds is definitely in my top 10 Eurovision entries of the 2010's.

After 6 years, this still stays as one of the best times as an Italian. L'Essenziale still remains very important to my whole life. And Eurovision really started to strike back in Italy that year thanks to Marco. His contribution should NEVER be forgotten.
I remember we (Germany) gave Hungary 12 points and it was on the radio all the time after Eurovision. one of my faves this decade such a good song. so sad they withdrew for 2020, one of my favourite countries in Eurovision, they always deliver quality. Hope you'll be back soon!❤
hey people the fact that every other song that sent was better than this... but Europe has a certain image about us and wants only silly songs from us...
This is how you host Eurovision. I majestic intro by Avicii and the guys from ABBA. A funny host, who can speak English, not like 4 or 5 confused people who barely speak at all. Funny skits, and musical acts, not some tourist information and drone shots of your country, and boring interval acts without any humor or self-distance.
The first ten minutes are pure magic! And the rest of the show is really good aswell! My favourites were The Netherlands, Hungary and Russia. And Moldova! Another great entry in an ESC full of nice entries! And Petra Mede - WOW what a great host! 2013 was a good ESC year!
OMG THIS IS WHAT WE NEED! Thank you so much EBU :) My only request is the 2009 semi final songs, as they are not in great quality on TH-cam (some are not even there).
Romania's entry has for sure been the inspiration for Alexander Lemtov's act and character in the eurovision story of fire saga movie. Change my mind haha
If you're looking for a good year to show to a first-time Eurovision viewer, then 2013 would be a great choice. The production was well-done, Petra was a great host and managed it all on her own, and a solid set of songs for the most part. The whole thing is not too strong that would ruin all future contests, like 2016 would, but still good, nevertheless. My top five is as follows: 5. Gravity: This was a song I had to get used to. I thought the intro was substantially stronger than the rest of the song, but I grew to appreciate the fantastical soundscape and the lyrics that would fit in a soundtrack. Plus that staging, Ukraine being Ukraine! 4. O Mie: Usually, Moldova goes crazy and makes us laugh with our entries. This, on the other hand, is a well-written song, with color and the same whimsical feeling Gravity has. I love the lyrics the most, though I appreciated how Aliona grew in her dress! I honestly didn't notice that before. 3. Alcohol is Free: One of the strongest Greek entries ever, it's well-written, wacky, and yet fun. Koza Mostra and Agathonas Iakovidis work well together to create something so thoughtful yet enjoyable. An exclamation mark to end the Greek golden era (though 2018 and 2019 deserved better!) 2. Birds: After eight years in the SF wilderness, the Netherlands redeems themselves with a darkly magical song by Anouk. On the surface of it, it's a bit cold, but once you dive in, wow. It's well written (one of my favorite lyrics is "if being myself is what I do wrong/then I would rather not be right"), atmospheric and intimate. And that bridge...it gets all the goosebumps rising. Hope Anouk makes a cameo appearance in 2021. 1. I Feed You My Love: Another song I've had to learn to love. It's a bit jarring at first, and the lyrics make it sound dirtier than it seems. A few more listens and readings later, I finally got to appreciate and enjoy the dark yet welcoming energy this song brings, a mainstay in Eurovision circles. Probably one of my favorite Norwegian favorites now. My 6-10 are L'enfer et moi (underrated for sure; it's quite edgy!), Kedvesem, Igranka, Only Teardrops, and Vola.
I don't think I ever watched this show because I would have been 9 (maybe I saw part of it not sure). I remember listening to Denmark's song in the car my parents put it on and from then on I was a Eurovision fan! Although I didn't become a proper fan until I would say 2019 and now I'm basically a Eurovision nerd XD
This show was amazing!!! The flag entrance was epic!!! Seeing Avicci again makes me tearful! The songs were so good (even if I think Ireland deserved better) and the hostess! Please take notes everybody, just one person can carry the whole show or two (2016 with Mans)! There is no need of 4 and worse they fail trying to make jokes!!! Amazing show!!!
This Grand Final entrance was my favorite EVER, and the song always make me cry - it was so beautiful. I'm sure Benny and Bjorn felt a terrible grief to lose TIm just a few years later. The 1st semifnal entrance with Loreen and the Kids was also epic.
This show had the best songs of all Eurovisions. And the winner (Denmark) isn't even in my top-5... 1) Ukraine 1:39:30 - 2) Russia 50:15 - 3) Norway 1:47:33 - 4) Azerbaijan 1:31:35 - 5) Estonia 38:25
Every time I listen to the Greek song, I always want to go check out the band, Koza Mostra, but I always forget it. Pausing this, and going now. Loved them!
I back in 2024 ... Omg it was very peacefull eurovision. Almost all song was very calm. Only song from Greece, Romania and Denmark was different and memorable. Soo Denmark was obvious winner
The music of the flag parade is insane ! Not extreme, not overwhelming, enough discreet to fall behind what's happening on the scene but enough powerful to have goosebumps. It won't be outdated and someone else will have great pain to make another one as memorable.
They literally just had to drive over a bridge to get to the next years host.
I thought no one else noticed.
That was so bizarre.. we left the arena early - the last think we heard was the anoucement that denmark is the winner. Literally seconds later we're outside in front of HUGE trucks with printings on them that the next ESC is only 12km ober the bridge. FISHY.

I was at this contest!☺️ I got a great experience ! Thanks Sweden 🇸🇪
Me too
this was such a great year musically. emmelie is one of my favorite esc winners, i always love watching the 2013 show
If you're looking for a good year to show to a first-time Eurovision viewer, then 2013 would be a great choice. The production was well-done, Petra was a great host and managed it all on her own, and a solid set of songs for the most part. The whole thing is not too strong that would ruin all future contests, like 2016 would, but still good, nevertheless.
My top five is as follows:
An exclamation mark to end the Greek golden era (though 2018 and 2019 deserved better!)
Yes, 2016 set the bar impossibily high, although I'd argue both Tel Aviv and Rotterdam came very, very close!
It was the first one I closely followed, so yeah.
@@jamesmt142 2015 was better than all of those 3 years for me.
The country with the highest 12 points was Azerbaijan
1:08:08 Low key one of the most epic and shocking moments of ESC history :D
Came here just for Petra!
The 1st semifnal entrance with Loreen and the Kids was also epic.
the only hosts I really didn't like from the eurovisions i watched (2013-2023) were the 2014 and the 2022 ones (except for Mika)
Omg this was the very first ESC I fully watched. Such fond memories, especially seeing my country qualify again after so long 🥰🇳🇱🥰

petra mede is the greatest host eurovision has ever had
Yes... looking hear to hosting again this year, in May!
I just want Sweden to win again, so Petra Mede can conduct the contest again 😍
Not in 2022, and if SVT won't get smarter, it will never happen again
@@alkaratus9189 Why?
@@SergiMyself if Sweden dont take part in JESC, there is no possibility they will win ESC, simple
They have to get third first
@@the_kosd well, they had won before 21 centure as well

What an intro!!
Don't remember to watch Eurovision 2013!
Every time I listen to the Greek song, I always want to go check out the band, Koza Mostra, but I always forget it. Pausing this, and going now. Loved them!
I Love their presentation
RIP Esma Redžepova (FYR Macedonia) who passed away in December 2016.
RIP Agathonas Iakovidis (Greece) who passed away in August 2020.
RIP Avicii also
I back in 2024 ... Omg it was very peacefull eurovision. Almost all song was very calm. Only song from Greece, Romania and Denmark was different and memorable. Soo Denmark was obvious winner
Huge ovation at 9:45 to Petra Mede. Goosebumps 🔥

Thank god for that :D
It was... peculiar
My winner, anybody else?
Italyyy Marco mengoniiii
I love the Italian song so much.
One of my favourite songs ever
I remember this show in 2013.I watched it when I was 11.For me show in Malmö and Stockholm are the best (2013-2016).

The music of the flag parade is insane ! Not extreme, not overwhelming, enough discreet to fall behind what's happening on the scene but enough powerful to have goosebumps. It won't be outdated and someone else will have great pain to make another one as memorable.
