The secret to ur bushings not freezing is you do the haaaah with your breath to warm them, but don’t do whoooh because then they’ll double freeze 🥶 it’s science
I've to regrip a few boards here on the wet coast. I bought a bulk pack of Mob. I give you all the credit in the world for trying to skate in that cold.
@@NessaDarps Its just nice have extra grip on hand. I have changed my grip quite a bit. Poor weather and bad conditions. Fresh grip makes your board feel brand new again.
Some years ago TH-cam started recommending your videos, and it was specifically these videos that I started watching you: skating outdoors during winter and the persistence to land tricks. My first advice for the bushings were to get soft ones, but as you mentioned in the video you already had those, so maybe try another brand with even softer ones? You also seemed to loosen them up a bit as well during the session. Also the last idea I have is to get some heating device, but you would have to use it every 5 to 10 min. - not exactly a very pleasant process. In Finland I rarely anymore skate even parking halls during winter, I have about 45 min. long bus ride to an indoor park (and another back), in the past five years I've been there 5 times a week and sometimes the naps in the bus before skating is the best when you're all relaxed. It's pretty cheap as well here. I don't know if you have some form of social anxiety or whatever else, but I would recommend getting past that and just go indoors at least like once a week.
Damn thank you for sticking around! Appreciate you watching the videos. I wish I could afford to do an indoor park a few times a week, but they aren’t cheap here. We have one that is, but it’s not the best. Extremely slippery (more so than the average indoor spot lol). It’s a 30 minute drive, but I am glad it’s something. And I’ll go when I can for sure. I do prefer to not skate with a lot of ppl around :/ and some of the indoor parks get very busy for the size. Ends up not being worth it for me. I usually prefer to just deal with the cold, but this season the bushing situation has just been really shitty. I’ll figure something out to make it tolerable I think. Gonna try some bones, a few ppl recommended em!
Made my day! Good day at work but happy to be off and chill to your upload!! Lol the random lady.. I would've been like, "really lady??!! Im trying to stay away from you and you come to the skatepark with your baby while it's super cold!! Go home stroller lady!!" 😂 ok i got a little frustrated with that stroller lady.
I think if you had Ventures you’d just give up. I’m pretty heavy for a skater and literally can’t turn when my bushings freeze. Then I’ll forget that I backed the nut out to the lock thread and damn near face plant hopping on my board the next time I go out with defrosted bushings Edit* try a cordless heat gun. But don’t heat them too much and also don’t let them from freeze. You’ll probably risk tearing the bushings or pivot cups. Other thing could be shave down the top bushings on a spare set so you can have them more loose. And to answer your question about tight trucks. They’re tight to someone who skates loose trucks. To us it’s medium to medium tight. Enough for stability but still able to turn. You don’t want it tight to the point you’re riding the edge of two wheels when you turn. That’s too much. It’s also why we skate Thunder or Venture over Indy or Ace. It’s for stability and avoiding wheel bite just setting up for a trick or landing sketchy
That is why I ride indies loll. Yeah the heat gun would probably be too much. There doesn’t seem to be many solutions. But it looks like I’ll have to try bones bushings at least, apparently they hold up the best in the cold!
there is no solution per say, i used to buy the i wanna say 80a soft bushings and soak them in anti freeze though, some disintegrated, but pretty much anything that can hold wold i would soak in anti freeze, for hopes
Tom Asta made a video about his bushings setup and said he skates the Bones soft bushings because they don't freeze in the winter (he's in Pennsylvania). Maybe give them a try and see if they work for you. Only downside is they only last around 6 months, but then again you can just use them as your 'winter bushings.'
If you skate tight trucks.. locking into grinds and doing any type of landing out of tricks can be slightly unforgiving. Over the years I learned to loosen them slightly to get use to it. Crook grinds easier to lock and landing a trick your not fighting the angles so hard cause of the tight trucks. You will notice this with tight trucks in this cold Canadian winter even more so..
I absolutely appreciate the determination; it’s inspiring. I love your videos. I just got into skating this past summer at 38, and seeing how you approach skating, you’re a role model to people like me. You, and many more people I follow on TH-cam are so special and inspiring to people like me; I come on here not just for entertainment, but connection and education, and it’s people like you that are making this great content that helps me progress and get that little bit of skating in even when I can’t skate. You rock! Anyone out there skating in the cold like that has big balls, and a lot of heart! 🤘🤙💪
It's a shame you're bushings got so messed up. Hopefully the other guy's advice in the comments will help. The wind really does make it worse though. The last thing that I would want is for me to go for a kickflip wind blows my board flies 20ft away from me.
@@NessaDarps Yeah I can't deny it's been a rough one 😅 I can count on one hand how many dry days there's been. Days are getting longer tho! So looking up 😎

Hopefully some slightly warmer days are ahead. Regardless they definitely should start making weather resistant bushings now lol

Daewon Song style? No front bushing at all.
Might have to try that
Winter grease , winter oil for chainsaw help against the condensation of heat/cold in winter
Believe it or not i had one top bushing that broke and used a ceramic bushing that i found on the ground and it actually worked 😅
bones bushings don’t freeze as easily

U can try putting your sk8brd in a bag. And/ or try using a hard bushing on top and softer bushing on bottom. It might work.@@NessaDarps
those bushings look dead in the cold. they didn't react at all lol
Sand/shave roadside bushing making them a LIL shorter, remove test repeat . Bones make good double conical bushings

Indy color coats the density of the bushings maybe go softer for winter.
