  • A really versatile wet fly that fishes well on the lake and river. Tying a Black and Peacock Spider is quick and easy. When fishing gets tough, this fly fishes well as a nymph on the lake for rising fish or when they are high in the water, and on the river it swings well as a wet or you can tie it with a bead and use it as a nymph.
    Materials:
    Hook: #16 Hanak 230
    Thread: Black 8/0
    Body: Peacock Herl
    Hackle: Black Hen

    Great to see this wonderful old soft hackle get a run. It and others like it have been responsible for some truly memorable moments over the past 30 years.

      Hard to say, but figure eight typically. Sometimes small fish love it with a fast rolly-polly though
