Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said Sunday he was "very optimistic" about Pakistan securing a new International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout after President Asif Ali Zardari approved the tax-heavy budget for the next fiscal year beginning on July 1.
"The IMF programme is our assurance in terms of macro stability. We are taking it forward; it is inevitable. I'm very optimistic that we'll be able to take it through the finish line for an Extended Fund Programme which is going to be larger and longer in nature," the minister told reporters in Islamabad.
KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Sunday forecast hot and humid weather for the port city for the next three days, as residents continue to swelter in scorching temperatures.
According to the Met Office, the temperature is expected to reach 39°C today (Sunday), exacerbating the already-sweltering conditions in the metropolis.
The PMD noted that while there is a chance of thunderstorms in parts of Sindh, including Tharparkar, Badin, and Umerkot districts, Karachi will not receive rain today.

آئی ایم ایف کو کیا پتہ کہ ہمارے مسائل کیا ہیں ہمارے ہاں کھاد کی بجائے 25 ایکڑ سے اوپر زمین کے مالک پر زرعی ٹیکس بھی وفاق ابھی سے لگائے اور زراعت پر ٹیکس صوبوں کی بجائے ایف بی آر کے ذریعے لگائے۔ اور دکانوں اور فیکٹری شیڈ پر کرایہ آمدن حاصل کرنے والے لینڈ لارڈ پر 15٪ سے ٹیکس بڑھا کر 40٪ کیا جائے جس سے 35٪ ایف بی آر حاصل کرے اور 5٪ یونین کونسل کو ملنا چاہیے۔
بڑے دکھ کے ساتھ کہنا پڑتا ہے کہ کیسی معشیت درست ہو رہی ہے ۔ ہر دو دن بعد بجلی ، گیس کی قیمتیں بڑھا دی جاتی ہیں ، پٹرول پر ٹیکس اور ملازمین پر ٹیکس لگے ٹیکس بڑھا دیے ہیں ۔ وزیراعظم صاحب کبھی بازاروں کا چکر لگائیں سبزیوں اور روز مرہ کی اشیاء کا بھاؤ انہیں پتہ چلے ۔
