This really was one of the episodes to convince me that Twilight is the character who resembles me the most. I often get nervous about doing stuff right. Real story: I've recently moved and had a freak out moment while outside my apartment, and in my panic I ... called my boss, cause I knew nobody else. He came, took me to the hospital. It turned out it was just hyperventilation due to stress and fear. My boss was super kind and gave me a Celestia style speech about not needing to worry. I bet for some people real events might ruin something like this for them, but I feel like they improve things for me, cause I can relate, and then laugh about it, what stupid stuff happens when one gets super worried for no reason!
I don't have panic attacks, but I definitely relate to Twilight's OCD-ness. Also, at the bit where Twilight storms off going "AARGH!" Lee laughed and said that I totally do that. In fact, Twilight and Fluttershy are both characters who I like the least but can relate to the most.
Cyborcat Fluttershy reminds me of "the old me", which is probably the only reason for moments when I get annoyed at her But... gee, in this case, how would you describe your relation to Rarity?
To me, this isn't just a good episode, it's a definitive MLP episode, as it establishes that not every lesson in every episode has to be channeled through Twilight, that her friends are also capable of delivering them. This is important because it granted the series the freedom of telling a far broader variety of stories and perpectives, some that don't need Twilight to be there at all and allow her friends and others to be the lesson's messenger. It seemed weird to me how some episodes in Season 1 would have one of her friends be the ones who learn something yet the lesson would always have to be filtered through Twilight.
3:17 Wow, I've only just noticed that Twilight's hair is in a bun during this scene! It's almost like it's foreshadowing the Human Twilight from the Equestria Girls Movies!
Honestly I never noticed it until you pointed it out but I think Twilight definitely has OCD and not just in the stereotypical "Everything needs to be so tidy and sparkling clean otherwise I'll lose it" but in the way most people (including myself) have OCD with daily rituals and having things in certain places and not being able to do some things at certain times so I think that's super cool how the show views it in a positive way in some episodes and a negative way in other episodes it is very realistic.
There's actually been fanfiction written about why this happened, mainly theorizing that she hasn't really recovered from what Discord did to her and her friends. Makes a bit of sense when you think about it, at least in my opinion.

I love this eps. it's great. I can deflinly related to Twight OCD-ness I've had a breakdown once or twice over minor things.. Thankfully I have people that help me get threw it. I like how this eps it a shot at the moral of the week for shows in 80's..

the relish she takes in the pain of others in order to fix their problem is... really mean spirited and out of character. why does it no one compare this to Putting Your Hoof Down?
A verse I thought up watching this episode: "All I need is a problem." Twilight looked around. But since times were cheerful There was none to be found. Did that stop Twilight? Ha. Twilight simply said, "If I can't find a friendship problem, I'll make one instead." Thank you.
I am so angry that they did not know the thing they were supposed to know. As an adult male, obviously the intended audience for season 2, I found it very unhelpful and unrealistic. (Sarcastic)
I still love the fan theory that Twilight killed that bird. I mean it stops moving when Twilight pokes her head out of the bush, and it's right where her horn would be... so uh yeah, a little more creepy for ya XD.

I mostly relate to the artist/sewing aspects of Rarity
Cyborcat In all fairness, that type of thing is enough for me to latch onto characters too, so its all cool :)
This is one of my favorite episodes, just because of Twilight's madness. And Rarity's moments. And Spike's comments.

4 years later and this episode still cracks me up - Ponies has a talent of when they deliver a good episode, it just never gets old.
This is the first episode that comes to mind when I think of episodes to introduce to my friends.
This is easily the best episode of the first 3 seasons.

The beginning of season 2 is soo strong, 4 awesome episodes right out of the gate!
