I dont know how he does it, but I am so glad this channel exists. These videos feel like bespoke commissions by a high-end woodworking lifestyle magazine that doesn't exist. As a hobbyist woodworker, I am always impressed and truly motivated to think differently about this craft every video that is released. But it's more than that. The voice-over dialogue is well-paced, yet entertaining with plenty of detail. The music sets a mood of casual fun, with moments of challenge and anticipation. The video production is by far the best I've seen, even from channels with a larger production staff.
Pedulla Sawyer Farrington For woodworking Number one with a bullet is New Yorkshire Workshop but he’s an all around maker with some great woodwork thrown in.
@@davidhaworth7152 - Yea Pedulla does amazing work as well. The skill these guys possess is insane. Not just the obvious craftsmanship, but the design aspect is top notch which can be more difficult than the actual work sometimes! I like Keith Johnson’s work too.
@layneinchains4047 100% agree! I dropped out of college as a ME student because I found I really hated CAD. 10 years later, I spend 10h a week on the computer modeling or referencing CAD. Wish I had any skill whatsoever for drawing by hand like this Nick guy over here. But, also glad I didn't spend a whole 4 years at it just to become a furniture maker. Though, some of that vector geometry education would've been nice starting out hah

Now that the holiday madness is over, I finally had time to watch and enjoy this - magnificent piece (as always). You also inspired me to bite the bullet and pick up a KM Stop Block (putting in your name didn’t yield a discount, though). Love your work, beautifully shot and executed. ❤
Great work yet again. I really like the idea of traditional mortise and tenons and not just slap some floating tenons all over like the rest of TH-cam woodworkers are doing.
Love the innuendo and I vote you keep it. My question is about the shape of the three legs: where did you draw the inspiration? They’re a very distinct look. (Edit: ok I’ll just ask… did the three Ks set off any flags at any point?)

2 observations: I've always hated extending two pipe clamps by hooking the fixed end, the angle is horrible and makes aligning things a pain. A 3/4" coupling from any hardware store fixes that problem and is (as you might say) far sexier. The other one is hitting the screw on the sawstop: the screw is fully supported by dry wood, so there is no way for the current that they use on the blade to flow to ground. I'm sure you could cut their demonstration hot dog the same way if you independently support it in something insulating. Absolutely awesome piece, as always, thanks for sharing and posting
Hello Nick, I have been watching your channel since you started and love your craft. Please don’t think I am criticising (I’m not) but having read a couple of comments regarding you sexual innuendo and lower tone comments I have to say I agree. You seem like such a nice man, don’t let yourself down like that. Gerard
Solid build. FYI the part that the drawers ride on (for this construction) is called a web frame (not dust shelf). If you added a panel in the center of the web frame, instead of left it open, the panel you added would be called a dust panel. Hope that clears up the etymology confusion.
Thanks man! The stop jointer move is for tapering. Go half way with a deep cut, the tip it up on that fulcrum with a full pass and you’ve achieved a taper that’s twice the cut depth over 2x the stopping point of the first pass 👍
Little details matter and you are exceptional at making every little detail count and look flawless. One tip. For your hardware screws.. go get a pair of wire strippers. You will notice the side has holes where it looks like you can screw in something. Those are there for electricians to cut down the screws for junction boxes. They work for cutting down the screws for drawer hardware and give a nice clean edge without having to use a cutting wheel or grinder.
Very inspiring to watch you challenge yourself with each video. In your exploration, have you ever considered an homage to one of the more ornamental design styles, like some of the stuff from the 1800s? Queen Anne or Rococo or Chippendale style? That kind of stuff is definitely not in style these days. It would therefore be interesting to see you iterate on it. There are definitely some different techniques required. Rather than hitting everything with a chamfer or roundover bit, you might have to carve some filigrees! This is a challenge to put a cloven hoof on your next piece. lol. Keep up the amazing work.

Could also see an upholstered rococo bench/daybed being an interesting option worth fleshing. Carving and marquetry are a whole different rabbit hole I’ve not yet fallen down.
I don't remember you getting a SawStop. I may have missed it. When last I remember noticing, you were using that gold-coated Harvey. How are you enjoying it compared to the other?
