Hi Dr. Thank you for posting this. I am now 4.5 months post partum and have lost so much hair that I can barely style it anymore. No matter which way I style it the bald spots are visible. I had never given hair loss a thought. It was never something that afflicted me and I simply wasn’t familiar with the subject. When my hair began falling out it was such a huge crash course in all things “hair loss” and I felt so lost and helpless. It’s been very stressful, embarrassing, scary, etc. To see the amount of hair I end up with in my hands during a shower or during styling is shocking to me. Every day I see it and I think, “Today is going to be the day... today is the day where it all falls out for good and I will be left completely bald.” And I imagine the stress that it’s causing is only exacerbating the problem. I sat down tonight in tears and thought I’d look for some help on TH-cam and your video has brought me a lot of comfort. Thanks so much. All the best!

During my PP period I was breastfeeding & had steroid injections in my scalp from my neurologist (approx. 30 shots) for temporal neuralgia. I was warned I "could" lose hair...and oh boy, did I!!!! I'm wondering....is that a scarring hair loss? My hair is still falling out and I had bald spots throughout (2.5 years later) due to graduate school and nursing in the ICU during these times has totally wrecked havoc on my stress levels. Is there hope for my hair to regrow, or could I be suffering from scarring due to the injections?

Thank you so much :)
Hey Dr. Dray! Thank you for posting this video! I stopped birth control and a few months after I started losing my hair. I am only 27 years old and I did have a biopsy done to confirm that it is indeed TE. Will the shedding ever come to an end? Is there anything I can do to balance out my hormones? Thanks so much!
Thanks for sharing this Ms Brittney! The shedding will normalize with time, but if there is an underlying hormonal issue sometimes medications can be helfpul
What type of doctor should I see about checking for an underlying hormonal problem?
Very helpful! Thank you for the video!
I’m 22 years old and my daughters is 11 months old and my hair is barely growing back . I definitely panicked and cried when I started to notice my hair thinning and when I was breastfeeding it was much worse to the point where I only washed my hair once every 8-9 days 😖😔
Same thing is happening to me 😒
how is your hair now? is it stop shedding. I'm in my 4th month PP and breastfeed my baby.. the hair loss is made me scared 😭
@@maenanfaruq3556 same here. Will it stop hair shedding
Hello doctor,I enjoy your content a lot and try to follow your skin care tips on a regular basis.
My question is,what do you think about CoQ10 on skin care products?
Is there any benefit of applying them tropically?
thanks! meh...not very useful
Dr Dray thank you so much doctor for taking time in answering my question.
❤

Thank you for this video!
I had experienced the loss before, but it wasn't visible on my head: just very apparent in the shower! This time around, I have a fringe all around my head of new hair, so it looks like I have the world's worst bangs haha
bangs are cute!
What do we do if we started loosing a lot DURING pregnancy.
You shouldn’t be losing hair during pregnancy unless deficient in something. Get your thyroid checked.
Had my third child and this is my first time ever noticed it or dealing but my son also likes to pull the heck out of my hair I think he pulled so much out that it didn’t help my self
My son just turned 1 yesterday, the thinning and shedding continues. I have had my thyroid checked. Dermatologists said I have subhoerric dermatitis, so I'm washing with a special shampoo, and using a ph balance shampoo. What more can be done. I miss my pregnant hair! Lol
Did it get any better??
Thanks. 5 months pp and still loosing a massive amount of hair daily. It is scary. Hoping is slows down soon.
It’s definitely tough with all the changes! My son is 2 but because I’m still breastfeeding, I’m still experiencing hair loss. I’m sure once our bodies hormones adjust it’ll be better for us 😊
hi, how are you now? is the shedding stop? i'm scared because alot of my hair is falling out
@@mamigetsreal4503 I'm breastfeeding too, is hair good now? I worry about my hair 😭
Thanks for sharing so much information
Hey Dr. Dray! I have acne on my chin and I have a question about salicylic acid: I bought a new cream that has salicylic acid in it. If I'm going to use it will my acne gets worse at the first weeks ?
Is it also too much if my cleanser and my cream have both salicylic acid in it?
And is it okay to use the combo benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid?
hard to say for sure..i always prefer salicylic acid acne washes to creams left on the face, as they can be more irritating than washes and are not any more effective; you can combine with benzoyl peroxide
Thanks so much for the insight!!!
:)
Happy Friday Dr. Dray 🌈🌼📚❣️
You too Ms Cynthia!
Do you recommend rogain? Can you do a video on this please
I discussed minoxidil (rogaine) in prior videos
Andrea, I love all your videos.
Always love your Q&A, helpful hints for new moms! Have a great weekend!!!😙
Thanks Ms Laura Lee! Hope you are having a great Friday :)
Dr Dray ....Thank you ....you enjoy also😙
My baby is 2years old and my hair loss is so bad that, my scalp is visible and my part has widened. One of the physicians prescribed me Minoxidil as a medicine, but as i am breastfeeding I dont feel confident enough to use the same. Is this hairloss reversible?
👍what ingredients to look for melasma care during nursing? Facial skin is more hyperpigmented while rest of the body is smooth n bright. People used to kid as my face does not belong to this body...
ThNk you so much for the tips. I use a lot of conditioner and hair mask. Maybes that is one of reason losing hair.
Thanks!
I experienced what seemed like double the amount of PP hair loss after my twins were born as compared to my previous single PP delivery. I got a short haircut which made the regrowth seem more rapid.
Very frustrating I can only imagine
If my hair is still falling out normally during pregnancy is there a chance it won’t fall out after I give birth? Also no women in my family loses their hair when they have babies.
PS my dermatologist never mentioned the scarring types of hair loss.... so this is very interesting. My labs were ALL within normal as well.
Dr. Dray. This concerns the skin. As a teenager and makeup lover I notice that I have very small bumps on my face that I just can't get rid of. Are there any treatments for this? I try to express them and it works sometimes but it's an overwhelming amount that gets annoying as I try to have smooth skin that looks nice with makeup. I also have a ton of very small black heads covering my face do I express them or let them be? It's so many
Best to see your treating physician as this could be a variety of things
Hi thank you so much this helped alot . ! I subscribed to your channel doctor! ❣

Wow you Dr Dray are the only one that described exactly what is has been happening to me for years , 7 to be exact. It did started 4 months after my baby was born and now I have half if not less than what I used to have. Also my scalp is always itching but no flakes just a bit oily. desperate and frustrated mommy

I had 8 inches cut off and mine is still shedding like crazy.
3 months postpartum and I'm going through is very scary but I'm drinking my biotin and just washing only once a week. Any advice I gladly appreciate it.
Has it stopped at all 😩?
@@leashcampos6604 Yes now after almost three months I can say its falling just a little bit but everyday I comb my hair I still feel scared 😳 but I'm still using castor oil, rosemary hair mask, rosemary water and olaplex products. So far is not bad but everybody is different.
@@leashcampos6604 don't forget to drink collagen and biotin!!
@@leashcampos6604 I also see washing my hair only once a week also worked, Not pulling my hair back in a ponytail and using dry shampoo.
@@ReynaSofi7 thank you so much for replying ! I swear this is sooo depressing. I don’t even want to get ready 😪. I’m trying to do once a week, but my hair is a greasy mess by day 2!

Hello Dr! My hair length is till my mid waist. Should I tie them in a loose plait or leave them open while sleeping?
either is fine
My hair became so dry and damage after giving birth 😰
Same here 😔I’m wondering if breastfeeding is the cause for the dry scalp. Have you seen any improvement since you last commented ?

Aaaaawww off topic but my name is Andrea too ☺.
Does everyone get postpartum hair loss or is it case to case?
I would imagine it’s different for every mom but I do know it’s very common because of the hormonal changes.
About 50 percent of women
Does breastfeeding increase the hair loss?
Kimberly Bell yeah I was about to ask the same question too. My hair fall is making me depressing.
