Eddie takes me back to my childhood, 1983, when I was introduced to Van Halen by an older cousin. I didn't even know what an electric guitar was at that age. Fair Warning was my first cassette I bought w/ my own $ and I was enamored w/ Eddie and his playing. He just reminds me of my love for his music and the nostalgia of that time in my life. I crossed this video seeing about his final request and start sobbing like a kid over Eddies passing, and after I hear he wanted pizza I look down and I am eating pizza. Made me start crying even more. Damn it. Miss you Eddie! Thanks for being such a huge part of my life.
I grew up with Eddie on Holliston Ave. in Pasadena back in the early 1970s. David Lee Roth used to date my sister’s best friend, who lived across the street from the Van Halen’s. Dave would show up at her house every day and lay back on his motorcycle in front of her house, waiting for her to get home from school. You could hear these guys practicing in their garage all the way down the street to my house (a block away). Believe it or not, I was never really into the band Van Halen at the time. My taste in music had gone a different direction back then. The best thing I remember about the Van Halen’s (being a kid at the time), is Eddie’s mom always gave out the best candy every Halloween to us trick-or-treaters. So, when I think of Eddie, I don’t think of him as some kind of rock star, I think of him as a childhood friend who I always used to pick on for going to PHS (Pasadena High School) because (as everyone knows) the best high school in Pasadena is BLAIR HIGH SCHOOL!!! Sorry Eddie - I guess I still can’t help myself!🤣

I walked over there because you could hear the music all around the neighborhood. Got handed a beer, even though I was obviously way too young to be drinking. I drank it (of course). I didn’t know anyone there and not many kids there, so I left. I believe the family that owned the house may have been Argentinian. Big Argentinian neighborhood back then. The Argentina Market still stands (last time I checked) on the corner of Villa and Chester to this day. They used to make the best empanadas you never had! 😉
This man still has a huge impact on my life. What a genius! He was a human being first, and I never wavered in my love for my hero! Wolf’s loss was/is HUGE. Lost my brother, and that is hard. This…like my own father has to be hard, as I’ve been lucky enough to hang on to him. I’m 47. Life is too short, so enjoy the pizza! ❤❤❤

I love Ed & Val's story. There is such a thing as blended families and exes that can still be friends and care for one another, especially when there's a child involved. Val had to leave because of his addiction issues, which happens all the time and is completely understandable. I do really feel for Janie though. I sense she & the family are not on good terms, and thats really a shame. Its obvious she still loves and misses him too.
Looking at the ' thumbnail', Eddie was a handsome guy, even in his "old" age. If anything, he was EVEN MORE attractive with the silver hair. I feel bad for Wolf but I'm glad that he got to perform with his dad before he died. It's now April 2024 and I still can't believe that Eddie is gone. 😢 What made it worse for me, is that he died the day before my 56th birthday. Didn't feel much like celebrating, for obvious reasons.

I agree. Valerie has been almost too vocal since Eddie's death. To me it doesn't look good for her, especially since he was re-married and appeared happy with his second wife. He suffered on and off from cancer for over two decades, and the two most common causes or his kind of cancer are smoking and alcohol. Eddie smoked untold packs of cigarettes and drank copious amounts of alcohol over a great portion of his life.

I'm not sure I'll ever be able to watch the end, especially without sobbing. I miss him dearly.

Eddie was not like David Lee Roth..now Dave on the other hand acted the part of special vip Rockstar always..even now.. that's Dave's personality Eddie s was shy and quiet but friendly.. yes I'm a nobody but I've hung out with Eddie, yngwie,and Jimmy page but I'm no Rockstar just a music lover / musician/ sound engineer/ Headbanger.. if I never met nicko mcbrain I would of never met Jimmy page but I already hung out for years with vanhalen and yngwie .. been in yngwie s house in Miami helped record some of his music in the early 1990s ..met Nickolas in rehearsal studio in margate Florida 1999 been friends ever since went on brave new world tour with Rob Halford band and queensryche then two years later Ronnie James dio and motorhead ...2001/2003...... but in the 80s it was all metal for me and rock n roll.. started working at concert venues to get all access from security guards by giving them stuff like beer and cigarettes 😂 ..but it worked I met every major headlining band from 1983 to 2010 from connections inside rock world always phoned dude named Rudy in early vanhalen years tgen Scott Ross afterwards or mentioned Nicki deangeleas he's there number 1 fan .. but meeting Jimmy page when I turned 40 was the h8gh light of my career and travels .rocking around the world fir free ..because I know how to communicate with people... I'm blessed like that.. ☺️ I'm 63 now dying if cancer stage 4 but I can just remember all the stories and partying I did around the world 3 times without any help from parents or friends just my intuitive mind and skills of communication I was invited by everyone I met along the way.. I'm thankful 🙏 I lived. I mean I didn't just do..I lived !! I enjoyed everyday like it was my last.. and I never worried about bills and responsibilities because I had zero except to myself.. I'm happy I got to enjoy most 9f my young life by living freely I never let anyone take my free will from me except when I needed drugs I made a exception then I willingly let you think you got my free will but I git what I wanted that's all that mattered to me then but now I'm alone love it this way no drama no arguing no nonsense just quiet enjoyment thanks for the memories
