    I always fit the horncasing and the mudguard as one unit. Glue the rubbers in place with patex, screw the mudguard to the horncasing, offer up to legshields and screw the top horncasing screws in first.

      I do that on s one and 2 but because the horncast is fekt, I want to bolt the legshield down so I can fire her up and check the jetting and electrics.

    Well done Rob, just put some tape on the horncast rubbers to keep them in whilst fitting the horncast , Good luck

    So glad replacement fits 👌 can't understand how people struggle with rubbers, mine just slide on 😀 looking good now though Rob, can't wait to hear it.
    Cheers for the vid 👍🏼

    Feeling your pain. A few years ago I smashed a disc brake half. I could have cried 😢

    Using a ratchet strap around the legshields will often pull them in enough to make the holes line up. This should be done with the upper legshield to frame bolts loose. The holes in the leggied are slotted for a reason.

    I shouldn’t laugh but I had to. Especially when the rubber fell off. The simplest things on these machines are sent to try us 😄

    Ha those bloody rubber gaskets are a right faff and the holes rarely line up perfect even after you strip it down yourself it’s still a pain to line up 😀

    I use masking tape to hold rubbers in place, worked well for me.
    Like all jobs on a Lambretta, allow thee times your estimate of how long it will take .

    Watching you have fun with the mudguard...just thought that...holding it with some string....until everything is in position...might be a plan....I suddenly had a vision of matchstick with string...

    You should have used a tiny dab of contact adhesive on the mud guard trim. Beut scoot.

    I would think the horncast gasket flaps that you cut off around 7:30 were for tucking down at 90 degs to protect the cables from the edge of the mudguard?

    Lovely scoot mate 👍

    My least favourite part of a rebuild - the rubbers grow a mind of their own and the horn casting develops a morbid compulsion
    to fall off and attempt to scratch the mudguard. Decent part from Rimini by the looks of it.

    Got the same problems right now...My issue is the mudguard rubbers seem a poor fit. They don't quite fit the profile and have little gaps. Maybe I'm just being pedantic...Saying that it seems every single part you buy nowadays seems poorly manufactured and needs altered slightly. I don't remember it being such a pain when I first done this (many years ago though).

      I find that the scootopia rubbers fit quite well but nothing fits better than the original used rubbers.

      @@kickbackgarage Buying parts from India is a bit of a lottery.... Had a rear light problem so I bought a "new" ignition switch. Rear light still didn't work. Spent hours with a multimeter trying to work out what the fuck could possibly be wrong with the wiring.....Turned out the "new" ignition had exactly the same fault as the old one!

      Cheap Indian parts, just say no 🤣 some of the genuine sil stuff is good but hard to find these days.

      @@kickbackgarage It's been a while so I stupidly presumed you could still get decent SIL parts. 2nd hand and refurbed parts passed off as new....It's a lucky dip mate.

      Legshield rubbers were a pain. Soften them in boiling water then you get 3/4 way round and they're solid again....Soften with a hairdryer for the last 6 inches and you're sorted...Thank fuck.

    It’s like we are in parallel universes Rob! I snapped the bottom lug off my original horn casting trying to remove a seized screw, then the replacement was an SX fit not an LI (only slightly wider). Glad I bought a Dremel is all I can say.

    Where do you buy your component parts for the lambretta?

    • @kickbackgarage
      @kickbackgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rimini Lambretta center, mb scooters, scootopia and chiselspeed are the best places for lambretta.

    Is it possible that the one you broke was not the correct horncasting in the first place lol , just a thought rob 👍🛵

    • @kickbackgarage
      @kickbackgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are small differences but the general consensus is that they should fit both non chrome ring and chrome ring series 3's up to the time they changed the horncast badge. So I'm told.
