But they never offered £150 mill and the deal was staggered crazily that Liverpool told em to do one. They most they offered, according to reports, was around £100 mill, however, terms were simply not favourable
@@Fergz2049 it was 150m total package...£100m was upfront the rest staggered - some of this was unlikely to be paid due to the length of contract he would be on and his age he would be
I'm may wrong but I think we've seen that Liverpool are happy to see a contract through to the end. Emre Can, Firmino, Milner, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Matip, Origi and Thiago just in the last few years whose contracts ran to completion. I don't completely agree with this practice if accurate, but I do, in some ways, admire them for honoring their commitment to the deals they sign with players. I tend to want my favorite players to stay vs letting them leave. Mo's numbers were lower than usual year last season, but he has been brilliant for us and maybe deserves some loyalty.
Doesn't sound like they want him out. We have a player who's productivity has dropped, despite injury last year, and possibly playing injured in the second half of the season. Let's hope it's a deal to lessen his impact on the salary budget, and allow us to upgrade to better skwad players. But, Mo is a legend. I'm not knocking him.
I dont think they try to get him out. But for us is better for him to leave for a good amount of money now. Because we can buy wnother rw. Or i think he will leave on a free next year in Saudi for 5 times more money for himself. I want him to be sold this summer. My personal opinion.
Wretched situation this. Going into Slot’s first season, the last thing we need is our key player being unmotivated because he feels undervalued. As far as Liverpool are concerned, it’s probably best he gets moved on for £100 million so we can get Gordon in.
Edwards is now back. The club's strategy with contracts have always been lower basic with high bonuses and incentives. A few years ago Mo was throwing his toys out the cot for a higher guaranteed wage (Another reason GINI left as he wasn't getting goals and assists for more money he wanted a higher guaranteed wage). If anything the club is probably wanting to go back to the previous style contract as Edwards is now back.
I went right off Mo after the spat with Klopp at West Ham. He knew Klopp was leaving, there was no need to sour things so close to the end of his tenure. The fact was he wasn't playing well and deserved dropping. He always fades after he's been to AFCON. His agent can be a troublemaker as well. The only worry is Nunez is so inconsistent, Jota is often injured, and Diaz might want to jump ship. I wish we'd kept Mane although he wanted out. I think Mo will stay to be honest.
I doubt he'll accept lower wages, so this might be an attempt to nudge him out the door now, by making him feel uncomfortable about staying and running his contract down.
I think they expect him to go for free next summer tbh. I don’t think they’re trying to get him out either. I just see it as, try our luck with a lower wage contract extension. If he signs then great (chance at selling him next summer again,or an extra year from him) if not then whatever. Normal to offer lower wages at his age now, particularly after his poor form end of last season.
It does sound believable tbh. I have always been of the opinion that we would sell Salah over letting his contract run down. The club always like to remind us how they like to run things in a sustainable way, but would a sustainable club ever let their star player walk for nothing in 12 months, when they can get £100 million this summer? That’s not what a sustainable club would ever do. He’s 32. I think we should cash in and put it towards adding to the squad personally. They have to do what’s best for the club, not what’s best for Salah.
for me and (it's my opinion only) a lot of unlikely things would have to align for Salah to be sold this summer. a buying club would need to be a european club as I don't think Salah is that desperate to go to Saudi league after how it went this season. Liverpool would have to accept a low offer I mean a very low offer it definitely would upset a lot of people I'm talking in the region of £30m. It would have to be heavily caveated with its freed up a load of wages. The buying club would have to be willing to actually pay that money and I think there would be heavy agent fees and bonuses for Mo to make up for the fact its not a free transfer that he'd get at the end of the season. Liverpool would I think need to have the replacements for his wages signed at the time of the sale. Add all that up and the sale of Mo this summer becomes increasingly unlikely
IMO, any star of Salah’s stature has a big ego. An opening offer containing a reduced salary, image rights, and/or shirt sales would come across as a slap in the face to the star he is and all that he’s done for the club. If the club actually wanted to sell Salah, it’s best to not piss off Mo & his agent so he doesn’t dig in his heels and leave on a free.
Makes no sense for Salah to accept such a deal. Personally I don't buy it, that they would be so stupid to offer that. It's the image rights that make no sense. I would find it insulting to be offered no share of shirts that people are buying with my name on it. To me it sounds like he will be leaving on a free next summer, or accepting whatever deal is best for him at that time, depending on what his priorities are at the time...
Well I hope he doesn’t tarnish his legacy and leave a bitter taste in the supporters mouths!! He certainly wouldn’t get the send off and adoration Bobby had if he effectively did an Mbappe and put the money above any sentimentality….but £80 mill in your own sky would soften any disgruntlement/vitriol by the fans. And he’s been a truly magnificent servant to the club so should he be entitled to ride off into the Saudi sunset ?!……Should’ve sold him to the Saudis when it was offered anyway ….🤷🏼
Mo would be mental to move on to the Saudi League this window. I imagine he'll want to play in next seasons Champs Lge. This and the fact he and his agent have got LFC pretty much by the........yeah them, he'll sit tight. If it does turn out Mo leaves on a free next year and FSG start being 'opportunistic' to replace him I, and I imagine a fair few other supporters will not be happy.
I'm not totally convinced he'd be overly impressed at moving to Saudi just yet. I'm sure he feels he's still performing highly enough to compete for top European honours, so if he's not happy with the deal we're offering I could see him signing for someone like PSG in January.
I always thought the offer would be the same or less than the last contract. As for forcing him out i doubt it because he wants to play at the top level and nobody in Europe is going to offer 100 million for Mo with 12 months on his contract. Appreciate the videos Dunk
IMO, he has earned the right to leave how and when he leaves. Even if it’s for free. He came in for what? 35m and more than repaid that fee. He LOVES the club. All these years, when he was the best player in the world, he would have gone if he wanted to. He has never once pushed for a transfer. They negotiated a smart extension because they’re good business people who made the right decision for his career and finances. Any player would. VVD will when his talks open. Trent for sure will when they talk with him. And people have been saying he’s been “wanting to get out” for years. The club won’t push him out to sell him now and I believe that’s the right choice. Even if he leaves for free.
Dunks, interesting speculation…. If it’s nearly correct Mo will jump at the chance to go to the Middle East or he’ll take the view (f&@k it ) I’ll leave on a free loosing no money at all !
Won't answer here but you know me check your dm I will say salah ain't looking to leave plus looking to sign a new contract of at least one or two years

We should have sold him last summer for £150m, when the offer was on the table from the Saudis.
Issue was it was last minute so couldn't get a replacement
I agree. Remember all those games we played really well when Salah was away for a month and when he was injured?

I think the falling out with Klopp could have something to do with it, plus his age.
Mo is already a hero, he doesn't owe us anything. I would defo cash in now
That's a terrible offer 😂😂😂 That's like a slap in the face, you would down tools for a year. Put your feet up and train at 50% 😂

100% agree with your train of thought bud, I do however think he is still too good to go to Saudi.
Agreed

100% he's running that huge salary down for the mahoosive wedge of a signing fee and the reported 1.5 million USD per week.
