A beautiful tune and two of my favorite jazz guitar players, perfect. Thanks for sharing this, Ulf!

I love this, but I learned something interesting; Ulf's comping is as loud or almost louder than Pat's soloing. This makes it feel more like interplay rather than solo/comping. Then listen to Pat and Jim Hall's duet work, Jim comps with the volume nearly off completely, and it sounds like one on top and another in support. So I guess it depends on how the musicians decide they want to interact?

Probably more to do with the guy mixing the audio than with the decision of these two incredible musicians.

Ulf rolled down volume knob when he switched to comping but probably not enough. Being on that relatively big stage it is not that easy to understand immidiately how it sounds from outside. Also Jim Hall played hollow body and he heard acoustic sound too... and he strums a lot... it would be more natural in that context roll down volume more. And Ulf just could probably become too quiet or lose tone quality. As for interaction it is more in the manner of playing in my opinion than in volume: Bill Frisell always plays interactive comping.... I cannot say it is unsupporting. But he really intervenes and reacts melodically. Peter Bernstein too in his own way.

Problem with mix, not with playing.

You know you have to step up your game with Metheny. Almost every line he plays is a legit melodic phrase as opposed to scale pattern. I like Ulf's outside playing
