Ok so Crumb Coating is when you use butter cream to make a coating on the cake to lock the crumbs that you get after shaving the brown off the sides. You then put it into the fridge to chill and firm up. When that is done you'll do a second application of your butter cream and this will turn out clean without crumbs, and smooth it out. It's a tedious process, but if you want it to have no crumbs on presentation it is something you could add to the cake making process, but you'll need more butter cream
