- In today's urban exploration video we gained permission to explore this abandoned building in Cairo, Illinois. I was surprised to find remnants of the past funeral home business left behind. The owner has plans to restore this building to its original state. Joining me on this adventure is Aaron from @show me go explore, and Scott from @The American Ghost Project. When you look past the ugly cheap wood paneling this place still had some nice touches from its hotel days, like the transom windows and those pretty doorplates. It's good to see you uploading a video again!
Josie you're spot on lol. Drop ceilings & cheap paneling usually cover up the architecture in some of these abandoned places.
The Airline tv was sold by Montgomery Wards....was a name they used.
Those lyrics are to an old southern gospel song called "Sheltered in the Arms of God" written by Dottie Rambo. My church loves that song. And that hymnal is an old Stamps-Baxter hymnal.
Nice old building, needs a great deal of TLC. Believe the lever and spring on the doors at 18:23 were part of the old door bell shakers. Good explore.

Yes I am. Unfortunately had a second surgery that was unexpected. Recovery has been slow. I really miss exploring but I will be back as soon as possible.

The owner gave us the key to the building. I had permission to be there.

We were with the caretaker of the property on this exploration. It is rather difficult to break and enter when the owner gives you the key. But most certainly, thanks for watching!

Question: how do you always find new abandoned places to explore?
Not asking for specific details if you don’t want to give them but perhaps you could just just point me in the right direction on how to find these? Because I live in la but word on abandoned buildings is kept secret by explorers and all I want to do is explore not vandalize.
