Carnations Flowers - Dianthus Barbatus (Sweet William) & Dianthus Caryophyllus - Flower #11

Dianthus, also known as carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus), Sweet William (Dianthus barbatus) or pink (D. Plumarius and related species), is a very beautiful ornamental plant. Brightly colored and easy to maintain in your garden, this genre has a wide range of species (300 species) different in shape, color, size, and many of them have a sweet smelling. Originate in Asia and Europe, some species in North Africa and North America, most of carnations are perennials, but some are annual or biennial.
✓ Dianthus Care (Sweet William & Carnation Flowers)
Dianthuses loves very much sun but you must be careful where you will plant in the garden because they require a moderate temperature and a well-drained soil to be protected from possible fungal diseases caused by water ponding (therefore, it is good to be moderate watering). Propagation is by seedling, rooting cuttings peaks or seeds planted at the surface soil (rise out of the soil after 10 days of planting). It would be good to plant at distances of 30-40 cm each from other and thinning them when it's necessary for proper air circulation. Also, dried plant parts (flowers and leaves) must be removed to help the plant to regenerate and flourish further. Plant blooms at the end of April.
