My 2000 ml 320 is in rough shape compared to the one in this video. The sunroof leaked unchecked for years, that caused many many problems. My low range switch is M.I.A. like the passenger side windshield wiper. I could spend hours on its issues from the abuse it's been through. surpringly after the recent transmission/transfercase oil change it once again shifts manually if needed. The map phone radio currently isn't working, as I mentioned it's sunroof leaks but I coated the edges with duct tape to seal it for now. Horn doesn't work nor the airbags. Fuel economy is 12.6 litres/100km. But It is full time 4x4... I love it & it's only got 168.558 km.

I was looking how to manually shift the automatic transmission. The shifter will not move into the manual shift grove. I just purchased this 99 ML320. and am trying to learn all the controls. Otherwise the information was somewhat helpful.
Juergen Nicola congratulations on your ML purchase they are good trucks especially if you found a good one with no rust and well taken care off. Does your shifter moves fine from park into reverse and drive?
Easy does it! You are gonna wear out that power steering pump! I carry a couple labs in my 2001 ml. Mine is black on black leather. Even on the cold days with a little sun its fine. Heat and cold are great.

For whatever it's worth, this vehicle is NOT 4matic. It is full time AWD with an old school Borg-Warner chain drive transfer case. These W163 body vehicles are not SUVs nor cars...they are regarded as body-on-frame trucks. 4matic didn't come out until a few years later than this vehicle..about 2005 or so.

It’s called 4MATIC. 4matic is what mercedes calls their awd system which the w163 has with a low range gear which is excellent in low traction situations. @@monsterattack712 I own 2 of these currently. 4-matic switches between 2wd and 4wd automatically as I understand it...never owned one. They also don't have the low range gear as the more truck-like W163 old school vehicle. Again, never owned one so I could be wrong...

@MatiaFFernandezj Thank you for subscribing and in terms of real world MPG if you drive it with a light foot it will get about 18mpg. Keep in mind this ML320 is alot heavier then your clk320.

I have the same model & year , but it doesn't have the indicators on the side mirrors which looks much better , absolutely love my car .🦘
