I wrote The Walls Are Way Too Thin about a time in my life where I felt like i’d lost control of where I was heading and struggling a little with finding my place in the world. It was a very strange period, I’d just moved to London away from my family and all of a sudden everything that I knew to be normal had changed completely. I moved on a whim into this little dingy room. I met some cool people but this place was pretty lonely and claustrophobic. I’m such an awkward person and even though I really liked my housemates I still felt worried about small talk in the kitchen or passing each other in the corridors. I had some fun times there, but I felt like I was mostly confined to my room whilst chaos was going on in the flats or streets around us. To avoid confronting how I was feeling I’d sneak out of the flat and go on train journeys to see my mates, get drunk, then come back hungover through the night or morning. I wrote most of Walls and the songs that come next on those trains. It was my place of therapy, in the middle of nowhere.
I wanted the music video to reflect how I felt stuck in my room with my own internal anxiety rising. The idea of being trapped in an air vent in a burning building came from that feeling of claustrophobia and panic that I felt throughout my time living in the flat. Shooting the video was chaotic, my elbows and knees look quite different now after 8 hours of crawling back and forth. The fire blast in the vent was totally real too !!

Brilliant 80’s electric synth sound in the background creating an incredibly catchy backing track topped with great lyrics and Holly’s beautifully haunting raspy echoing voice, Pure Music Magic!!! Went straight in my iTunes Library and I’ve listened about 10 times already today

This song makes me cry, this reminds me of me and an ex group of friends, we would just being constantly high in random houses of LA, weeks on end. We had a big fight and we were just isolating in the house in seperate rooms, they all chose their side and I was alone. I changed my life after, but this song reminds me of wanting to be there friend again and make amends, but knowing choosing to leave was the better choice. Miss them so much, I hope they’re doing well.

The video makes little sense when compared to the lyrics. It makes more sense if it was filmed in a bedroom, dormitory, or even a nightclub.
Last week, I was driving home at 1 am while listening to loads of great songs on radio1. After going to sleep and waking up, I forget them all. Today, out of the blue, I remembered one song going, "Ooh. The walls are way too thin" - It's so catchy :D
I'm certainly not the target audience for this sort of stuff as I'm an old fella but I think this is an outstanding song and well produced

I just saw Holly Humberstone perform live at Radio 1s Big Weekend yesterday.
She's remarkable and it was such a heartfelt performance because she was in the USA for about 3 months and returned home and she said she'd not want to perform anywhere elsevthan her home turf, she even got emotional. It really hit home and I can safely say she's one of my all time favorite female singers!
