First, Doraemon is great and does not corrupt people. I am from India and yes, the politicians do tell that Doraemon corrupts kids but that's not true and they are trying to gain political views/gains. Which is why I personally think that Doraemon is the legend that no one can stop

Ikr also Gintama is underrated compared to bleach, naruto, one piece and black clover. But im glad its very high ranked which shows how great of an anime Gintama is.
I'm Japanese (living in Australia now though) and grew up with Sazae-san, Doraemon, Conan, Anpanman and other shows like Chibi Maruko-chan, Crayon Shin-chan and PreCure, I find it so sad that shows like that aren't more popular in countries like US and Australia.
Could be because the majority of these shows have no English release for the manga with the exception of detective Conan however the volumes of that series is far behind
*Precure, Doraemon is very popular in Spain and South Asia, and Precure is very popular in Korea, it's just that there haven't been any dubs for later Precure shows in any country.
@Kyle Miller bro did ya actually watch the English dub presented to Americans...? They've just shamelessly removed all of the very *Asian* things that makes Doraemon awesome. Had they tried to expose Americans to different cultures without worrying too much about Americans finding stuff hard to relate or something, Doraemon would've been a hit. Spain, Portugal and Italy made only minimal changes and are proof of this: Doraemon is a hit there even though those cultures are vastly different from Asian culture.
Doraemon is quite popular here in Spain. When I was in primary school, many kids thought (for some reason I don't know) that it was actually a Spanish show. If I'm not mistaken, it airs every day at 8 am.
Both Doraemon and Detective Conan are also enormously popular in the Arabic part of the Middle East especially Detective Conan that even had some of its movies dubbed and even released in Arabic theaters and from what I understand Detective Conan is also popular in Germany. Maybe you can do a sequel video but instead talking about anime that weren't big success in Japan but became bigger hits overseas titles like UFO Robo Grendizer (popularized Anime in Italy, France and the Arabic part of the Middle East as well as Quebec Canada), Cowboy Bebop and Trigun.
As anime fans of course we know all of those, Tim. Here in Mexico we got Conan, Doraemon and Gintama dubbed at some degree. Sazae San is currently in dubbing process apparently, renamed as "Doña Sazae". We don't have Apan Man tough. I believe you forgot Crayon Shin-Chan. And for the "newest entry" I thought you were going with Pretty Cure somehow... Edit: Also, Scissors. I lost.
Caballeros del Zodiaco estoy de acuerdo. Aunque ignoro si realmente no sea conocido en USA. Al menos sus figuras si eh visto que las vendan. Arale (Dr. Slump) también es muy famoso en Japón. The clips of Doraemon on Disney XD was so nostalgic I was like 12 or 13 and the only time I had to do what I wanted was after school before my dad and step mom got home and they started yelling at me to do my mountain of homework Doraemon, yokai watch, and beyblade burst were a nice escape from the stress and anxiety that was my every day life back then
Detective Conan, Gintama, and Doraemon are shows I've personally seen. I love all those shows. Saeze-san and Anpanman are anime I finally heard of as of this year, after joining the anison previews community.
I grew up watching most of these especially Case Closed. That is one of my favorites. I also I recommend watching the movies if you watch the anime they are amazing!
Doraemon and Detective Conan were quite known in South America. And programs like Shin Chan were known for cable channels like Animax (now defunct) that was owned by Sony.
As if I'd miss any of these animes. I may not have watched all of Doraemon and Sazaesan, but I've watched plenty of both. Binged Detective Conan back in 2017, and Gintama in 2016. Gintama becoming my favorite anime of all time despite watching over 1000+ animes. I may only be 19yo, but anime is the best coping mechanism in my life. Most Kids here in India myself included grew up watching Doraemon, Anpanman, Shinchan,Ultra B, Hagemaru, Kochikame and so many other Kodomo animes. Kodomo animes are very popular here.
Doraemon is immensely popular and successful in my home country, Vietnam. People from the elderly to the young all enjoyed and were familiar with it. Perhaps a cultural difference rendered it not well received in the West.
@@BigAL_9_9 that's a cool idea, but god, get ready to be surpised at how _old_ the style looks hahaha, when I rewatched some old ones I had to revise my memory
It’s interesting to see what gets popular in each region. In Latin America, Get Backers was quite popular for a short period of time simply because Animax Latin America would air it constantly, Monday to Friday, back to back with FMA of all things
I’ve actually heard of all of these XD I’ve heard of Sazae-san years before in a video I watched about it I watched Doraemon all the time whenever I went to India in the Hindi dub Of course, I heard the song “Anpanman” by BTS and then found out it was an anime And I always thought that Conan and Gintama were popular in the west too

My kids fell in love with Doraemon on Disney XD. However, there's never been another legal means of streaming it in the US. Which sucks, cause they really wanted to watch more of it.
When you started talking about Saezan-San, I was hopeful you'd also talk about Chibi Makuro-Chan, since the pair are always some of the highest viewed titles each week in Japan.
In the us yes, but I grew up with most of the anime mentioned here since I grew up in Vietnam. I honestly love detective conan very much, bought myself a laser watch and ended up getting many compliments bc of it
17:09 according to Wikipedia, the reason they changed the name is because of possible legal issues with, get this, Conan The Barbarian, which was still popular by 2004
I've seen Doraemon and Shin-chan in both English and Japanese. Both shows are really good to watch if you study the language because the Japanese they use is basic enough for people who are learning the language to understand. Chibi Maruko-chan and Sazae-san (which is extremely easy to find on TH-cam, and thousands of episodes exist) is another one that's good if you are learning the language. Anpanman received English dubbed movies that are exclusive to Tubi TV, and can be watched completely for free.
I knew all of these on some level, except for Sazaesan. I was raised in Egypt for a few years, so we had Doraemon and Case Closed and even some more obscure stuff like Hamtaro and Captain Tsubasa. I recall seeing the character for Anpanman somewhere before, but I have no clue where. Gintama is pretty popular too, among any avid anime watcher.
Most of us Americans know Doraemon the same way Japanese people know Beavis and Butt-Head and Cartman from South Park. We know the character, but not the show it comes from. I remember seeing a few spas or nail salons that had Doraemon related decorations in the window. Doraemon did actually receive a dub in 2014, but it did poorly due to lack of advertising.
You guys make some great anime content. I've looked around for more good channels like this one but this is the only one that doesn't just talk about Dragon Ball or Naruto or those types of anime all the time. Tim's great, too, as I'm sure you've been told a million times. And yes, I'm aware of Anpan Man, Conan, and Doraemon, but I don't particularly remember hearing about the other two.

@@gin1747 maybe in the zone were you live, but the video, i think, its referring to the whole pop of America, and a lot of them probably didn't grow up with this things as big of a model as for Japan and Italy
Detective Conan / Case Closed is my favorite animation anything! Whether that be anime or American animated movies OR TV, Case Closed is and will always be my favorite. Love it so much!!
In Spain Doraemon is huge, probably one of the most famous series here and catalan is literally the language with the most episodes dubbed of Detective Conan outside of Asia
I don't know that, tks
Yeah I know
Detective Conan was always on Television at every time in germany. It still is in TV nowadays
Its the legendary anime,,,
Bruh for real?! Here in Italy we stopped dubbing it ;-;
@@MasMaszu2We stopped dubbing the anime in 2006 (but movies and some TV specials still got dubbed in German).
But they kept airing the episodes that were dubbed on TV and in 2018 the channel Pro7Maxx started to continue the dub were it left off in 2006 (which was epusode 333).
So now the anime gets dubbed in German again and the voiceactors are mainly still the same as before and the dub is so good ^^
But during the times in which the anime wasn't dubbed in German the fanbase was still really active made German Fan Sub and of course the manga never stopped getting translated and many kept buying it :D
And yeah like I mentioned the movies were always dubbed and even got special cinema release events:)
bro I been waiting for something like this as a 29 year old man in the UK anime is not really spoken about so really appreciate this and of course "smoking them exotics"
I APPRECIATE YOU. THANK YOU FOR WATCHING ZACK!!!
IKR
in Germany, the dub for Detective Conan continued in 2018, with even more episodes to come in the future. And I'm so happy to see it happen.
Doraemon, Detective Conan is huge in Vietnam, literally everyone watches. Gintama was adopted later on so it was not as popular as the other 2, only people who watch anime a lot watch Gintama. I remember that there is also another anime about a cybernetic cat that has a ton of weapon in his body, I think it's named Cyborg Kuro-chan.
I'd say GeGeGe no Kitaro and Crayon Shin-chan should've been mentioned here.
Toei Animation: Take a chance!
Gegege no Kitaro & Crayon Shin chan, definitely agree.
Shin Chan is not for kids that's why it is not much popular outside some countries of Asia
Yeah like Doraemon, Detective Conan and especially GINTAMA?! Why the heck is Gintama here?! Yeah those should have mentioned instead
@@Autisticslayer2022 wtf it is definitely kids show, like kindergarden (despite I agree that the original comic was targeted for mature audience)
Upon animation they changed the tone from the satire of modern life and child rearing to comedy.
So we no longer see Shinchan saying "Oh my mom and dads like to wrestle every night" kind of joke
Some of the most popular anime & manga series of all time: bet you've never heard of it
I still can't believe the USA never got the true Saint Seiya.
@@marianoclerici3986 What do you mean by true SS? Is it in this video? I want more Seiya
@@FewNewReasonss I mean, Americans got a bastardized version of it, like 15 years after it came out in Japan. They had translated something like 30 episodes, with names and plot points changed.
From Wikipedia: "In North America, the edited dub premiered on Cartoon Network on August 30, 2003, with only the first 32 episodes airing before the series was cancelled. This dub, re-titled Knights of the Zodiac, was licensed by DIC Entertainment. The edits made to this dub included cutting overly violent scenes, adding in previously non-existent digital scene transitions, coloring all instances of blood blue and renaming it "magical energies," rewriting the scripts, renaming several characters, and replacing the opening theme, ending theme, background music, and sound effects."
Well in the USA one piece is not that famous
@@marianoclerici3986 SS original is on Netflix too not just a Netflixoriginal it got to Episode 114
As an Indonesian, I guarantee that my first anime experience was Doraemon! Every Sunday morning, I tuned into RCTI just to see him, I mean--he's everywhere! Not only on TV, he's also available as plushies or on shirts!
Doraemon will be the show that my childs will watch :')
Detective Conan and Doraemon are very well know in latinamerica. It's weird that they aren't in north america as well.
I think its the Americanizing, its a plague on anime.
Child- Singular
Children- Plural
Its children, not childs
For me I’m more for Doraemon
Detective Conan is still huge in Germany, new manga chapters are released similar to simulcasts in German one day after the Japanese release. And anime episodes and the movies are dubbed and shown to this day in TV and cinemas.
Yeah I know
First, Doraemon is great and does not corrupt people. I am from India and yes, the politicians do tell that Doraemon corrupts kids but that's not true and they are trying to gain political views/gains. Which is why I personally think that Doraemon is the legend that no one can stop
I'm glad gintama got a shout-out. Most people know about it because of its ranking on MAL but get intimidated by it's length and people saying that it takes a ton of patience to get into (which it does). But people really need to stop sleeping on it. You've seen how highly it's regarded. Just watch it already
Ikr also Gintama is underrated compared to bleach, naruto, one piece and black clover. But im glad its very high ranked which shows how great of an anime Gintama is.
I was hooked from the very beginning. Gintama is my very favorite and finished the manga. It was a sad day...
I would watch it but..see...there’s a problem here and it’s called....time
I think the problem is there no home video release for American releases
@@maj9991kinda underappreciated
Well in Germany both the manga and the anime of case closed were always named "Detektiv Conan".

Wait, I though Doraemon was extremely well known here in the US.
This is news to me
Same in Spain
@OjaruFan I see what you mean. I haven't watched it, nor did I know much about it before watching this video, but I have heard of it before.
@Kyle Miller Because they decided to pull a 4kids on that show
@Kyle Miller bro did ya actually watch the English dub presented to Americans...? They've just shamelessly removed all of the very *Asian* things that makes Doraemon awesome. Had they tried to expose Americans to different cultures without worrying too much about Americans finding stuff hard to relate or something, Doraemon would've been a hit. Spain, Portugal and Italy made only minimal changes and are proof of this: Doraemon is a hit there even though those cultures are vastly different from Asian culture.
To be fair it lacks any physical dvd release here
Doraemon is quite popular here in Spain.
Edit:
Also, Scissors. I lost.
I will love , if conan never end ...

Anpanman is literally the first anime I ever watched, 24 years ago as a kid.
Really?? So you watched Anpanman in 1996!! Oh yes, Anpanman is my childhood anime!! Tell me your expirience!!
@@jakkurinjactenderjakala4129I don't recall all the details since I was 4yo, I watched it with the neighbor's kid, I think they had VHS of Anpanman show, since it was never dubbed to my language (pt), but I can't say for sure. I can still remember a few scenes from the show, like Anpanman head getting wet and the baker rushing to make a new one, and shooting it from the "breadcar", was a lot of fun.
Later I also watched Saint Seiya and Sailor Moon, since they were pretty popular at the time, and even had a dubbed version.

Fun fact Doraemon was popular in Mexico as well. I remember watching the show as a kid. Obviously, it was dub in Spanish, but it was one of my favorites .
Detective Conan dub should come back. Seriously I wish more dubs were like that one. The dialogue added jokes (really good jokes) while still being faithful to the original. Also in the dub Conan thinks in Kudo’s voice which is pretty smart. The only weird thing is the name changes.
Freaking love Detective Conan!!

Expanding further: Doraemon is popular everywhere, and there are quite a few English dubs:
one by Cinar (aka the people behind bald brat Caillou), which is americanized and named "The Adventures of Albert and Sidney
one by Phuuz that didn't see the light of day
a gag dub made for MTV UK but again never saw the light of day
The Cinar one I believe was the one pitched to Ted Turner, who rejected it.

Doraemon Is pretty well known here in latin america, there was a famous and traumatizing legend that says that in the end of the series It Is revealed the fact that Nobita was a kid with a disease and he could not move and Doraemon was his toy and all of his adventures happened on his mind
Ah yes, such little known properties as...
Doraemon, Anpanman, Detective Conan and Gintama... Why not throw in super-obscurities like "Crayon Shin-chan" while we're at it?

Saeze-san and Anpanman are anime I finally heard of as of this year, after joining the anison previews community.

Shin Chan got a absolutely brilliant dub in german. I loved it as a child and I love it even more as an adult.
It is also popular in India even though it is heavily censored
Doraemon and DC are pretty famous in the Philippines.

Doraemon is immensely popular and successful in my home country, Vietnam. People from the elderly to the young all enjoyed and were familiar with it. Perhaps a cultural difference rendered it not well received in the West.
I think it’s because in American we talk about action series

I've seen Doraemon and Shin-chan in both English and Japanese. Both shows are really good to watch if you study the language because the Japanese they use is basic enough for people who are learning the language to understand.
Chibi Maruko-chan and Sazae-san (which is extremely easy to find on TH-cam, and thousands of episodes exist) is another one that's good if you are learning the language.
Anpanman received English dubbed movies that are exclusive to Tubi TV, and can be watched completely for free.

Most of us Americans know Doraemon the same way Japanese people know Beavis and Butt-Head and Cartman from South Park. We know the character, but not the show it comes from.
