    I loved this! Thanks for creating a space where conversations like these can happen instead of letting our differences divide us and keep us from deeper discipleship and understanding.

    I loved this! Thank you so much❤❤. I was born and raised in Detroit and used to gather at work for an interfaith brief scripture study and prayer. What you’re doing brings those fond memories back and it is amplified so much more. ❤

      The first and greatest commandment is to love God with all your hear, soul, and mind and the second is like it to love others as you would love yourself. If you love God (The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) with all your heart and trust Him completely for your salvation and eternal life you will seek to follow Him by His strength as a disciple and as a servant!

    You three have really shown us how it should be done. In my mind, you are also teaching us how to interact with people of all faiths (Muslim, Hindu, ect.). I have have a couple friends who have embraced atheism/agnosticism. I have been prayerful about how to reintroduce them to Jesus, and I just imagine myself just sitting them down and giving a heartfelt testimony, but I don't think it will go well based on some of our conversations. I have tried focusing on just being a true friend, but you have shown me how to approach the next level.
    Here's what I've learned from you:
    1. Have the humility to say, "I don't know everything about theology. I, too, have much that I want to learn about Jesus, heaven, etc."
    2. Assume that you don't understand their vocabulary and vice versa. Ask for clarification.
    3. Start by asking them sincere questions, really wanting to understand their beliefs. First seek to understand and then to be understood.
    4. When you answer their questions, ask them if your understanding about their beliefs about the subject are accurate, which should help you answer the question better and help them to better receive your answer.
    Thank you for the great work that you are doing. Blessed are the peacemakers.
    P.S. Would love to see Bob Millet on the show. :)

      I wrote my comment before hearing Emily and Jill's 3 rules of 1. Only bring similarities to the table. 2. Not to have any agenda other than loving each other better. 3. I should be better in my relationship in Christ by learning from you. Great advice!

    My husband would say to me...we are all saved. Now let's talk about exaltation. That is the definition of our discipleship.

    • @StandingTogether
      @StandingTogether  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a historic traditional Christian/LDS difference of theological opinion. Some LDS people believe that people are all saved from eternal death by the death and resurrection of Jesus, that we are saved because Jesus saved us from eternal death and now it is up to the individual to be worthy of the highest heaven possible. This is what I was taught as an LDS youth. However, traditional Christians do not use salvation and exaltation as two different categories or states of being. As a pastor now for over 30 years in Utah, I teach and believe that we are saved by Jesus through His grace and mercy alone and that I am saved to be eternally with Him, the Father, and the Spirit. I'm not saved from eternal death and then have to earn my exaltation. Jesus has purchased me by His death and resurrection, saved me from my sin and the judgement I deserve and now I live for Him to tell others about His love and forgiveness so that they can receive His grace and go to heaven for all eternity! Thanks for your comment Kristi!

    Here are other words that mean completely different things to LDS:
    Jesus
    God
    Sin
    Satan
    Heavenly Father
    Heaven
    Pretty much every single belief is different than what the Bible teaches. They don’t believe the same Gospel.

    They can sugarcoat it all they want to and come across as loving and righteous people, but the FACT remains that Mormonism is nothing more than heresy, and it does not know nor represent Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, and it never has.

      So you believe Christ was a ventriloquist on the Mount of Transfiguration?

    • @StandingTogether
      @StandingTogether  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jack and Jeff, see where you guys both went? Jack, you dismissed the podcast completely and rejected anything that you felt was "sugar coated" and basically said that LDS people are pretending to be loving and righteous. You believe that LDS teachings are heretical, fair enough, but does that help LDS people hear you, think you really love them, or want to share your truth with them? And Jeff, you returned insult with insult, how does that help? Dialogue not debate, conversation not contention, build bridges not walls! Try it again you two! Blessings from us!

    • @537300
      @537300 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Standing Together how is that an insult? It is plain basic fact that can't be ignored and requires an explanation.

      @@StandingTogether I agree that what I said and the way I said it won't do any good, but at least they heard it. Too many would not bother to state it. Plus, I have an older lady friend in Utah who is not Mormon, and was totally rejected by the Mormon women where she lives, because she would not join their church. She certainly hasn't experienced any love there.

    • @RichardChappell1
      @RichardChappell1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I'd much rather have someone like Jack speak plainly how he believes rather than hide it. It keeps clarity in the conversation and I know where not to cast pearls. I'd prefer he not maintain such a heart of hatred, but I'd rather be aware of it.
      What I do question is how that is considered anything approaching Christ-like. When I hear the evangalical "You have to say you turn yourself over to Christ and then you're saved...unless you are Mormon, and then somehow the words don't count." And of course, then you have no more responsibility to follow commandments or not sin because you are saved. I'm sorry, but to me, there is no presence of Christ in those statements and the attending attitude. What is so ironic, is how often people with the attitude Jack is displaying will often accuse us because if our claim to truth, while completely ignoring the hypocrisy present in their own. In the end, while Jack accuses me of an eternity of hell, the worst I offer him is Heaven with a relationship with out Heavenly Father and Christ. In the end, I recognize Jack is doing the best he can, and I wish him the best - even if I know it's not reciprocated.
