I too am a sub in middle school. Have you experienced students telling you to at they’re not gonna do the work the teacher left? It’s like they’re so tired of working that when a sub is there, they wanna socialize..

Yes ALLL the time. I tell them that that I’m collecting the work at the end of the period and that the teacher will be grading it. That usually gets most of them to do the work but the ones that don’t just take the 0 and don’t care 😅

What do you say to take their phones? How do they react? In my county, taking a student's phone away got a teacher pepper sprayed and hit… 😢😮

@@kaymure oh Lord that’s crazy! I usually give them a few chances before I ask them to put their phones on the desk, after the third time I just walk up and put my hand out and tell them they’ll get it back at the end of class, if they refuse, I don’t force them to give it to me I’ll just leave a note for the teacher and have them deal with it however they want to when they come back lol

lol yess, they throw stuff and jump around the classroom like they are in elementary still but then want to be talked to like adults 😅😅
