Karen Carpenters beautiful velvet voice and The Carpenters beautifully arranged music with wonderful lyrics and smooth harmonies defined the late 60’s and early 70’s , you can hear there influence in a lot of songs from that era. Hear voice is something beautiful that I never tire of hearing , and she can Rest In Peace knowing she left us with an amazing catalog of musical masterpieces .
Karen Carpenters voice is a once in a lifetime voice and talent. Richards composition and musical genius. Great! KD Lange said Karen’s & Richards voice are like air and a choir! ❤❤
This song was written by the great Paul Williams as a jingle for a bank commercial. Richard contact Paul and asked if he could write another verse. The rest is history.
She has a voice that soothes your soul and calms the raging seas. So angelic bordering on spiritual. By the way. RIP, Tina Turner. May you find complete peace now. Thanks for the talent you shared with us. Even when you started out a song nice and easy but then did it a little "rough". God bless you, Proud Mary!
When I was a teen in the '70s, I listened to Yes, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith and other popular rock bands, but my guilty pleasure was Carpenters music. Karen's voice was magical and the music fit her voice. This song is terrific, and that one section where you reacted strongly to their harmonizing is one of the most beautiful sections of music ever. Simply gorgeous! Thanks.
“Guilty pleasure” is, unfortunately, what the Carpenters were to us too-cool-for-school ‘tweens, teens & 20-somethings - who didn’t know how to appreciate music, or ignore the naysayers. But hey; *somebody* was obviously buying their music, big-time!
So sad that she fought inner struggles about her appearance that eventually ended in her death. Gone way too soon. Thank you for keeping her alive for us!
This was the wedding Song to have! I grew up listening to the Carpenters and wanting to be Karen Carpenter. It’s a shame that we lost her so young. If only she knew how beautiful and talented she was.
Yes Harri, Karen Carpenter was one of the best voices of a golden age of voices. Joni, Carol, Joan, Carly, Melanie, Janis, but Karen is something special.
I just closed my eyes while listening to this song and was transported back to when I was 11 years old in 1970. I was crying like a baby because Karen’s voice was so beautiful and the fact that she is no longer with us.
I love your reaction to the video of the Carpenters! Karen's voice is so smooth, and with Richard's harmony is so beautiful ❤️! Just such pretty music! Karen left us too soon! Rip Karen, voice of an angel!
The opening to this song made me emotional as a little kid and it has hit me the same every time I’ve listened since ❤️. The combination of the intro, the arrangement and Karen’s one-of-a-kind voice is beyond beautiful.
Paul Williams, one of the most unlikely looking fellows you'd ever see, wrote this amazing song and it was truly her best work. It's almost as if he wrote it for her. He also wrote "Rainy days and Mondays" which also was one of her best works.
@@artistbrindle She is the female singer in an Australian group called the Seekers, like Linda and Karen she is a beautiful pure singer, no vocal gymnastics
Almost every reactor has mentioned the man playing the tambourine, but they all don't mention that he plays clarinet and sings backing vocals. The credits for the song have Doug Strawn playing clarinet, two others playing woodwinds. I'm not saying this is who he is, that was in the studio. This video was made for television, and there's no mention if they are the same ones from the studio. There were nine in the studio but only six in the video. I'll throw out one request that no reactor has done yet. Sing - which was done for Sesame Street with a children's choir as background singers. For that recording, Doug Strawn is listed as Tambourine and Triangle, so you never know.
Harri, I'm very happy to see you get back to The Carpenters! They are in a class by themselves, and I daresay there's no voice more comforting in this world (other than our mothers') than Karen's. Thanks for the reaction! Next from The Carpenters I suggest their hit song, "Yesterday Once More". The studio version, please.
Richard Carpenter the first verse of this song on the bank commercial Andy called up John Williams and asked him if there was any more to the song and the rest is history
So glad you did another Carpenters Harri! Always love watching you. How about a Beatles cover the Beatles liked more than THEIR version? Richard turned a catchy, upbeat tune into a poignant ballad. We get to hear Karen sigh in this one. "Ticket to Ride." As a second "cover" suggestion, that I like better than the original, "Desperado" was given the treatment by Richard, which ended up making an already pretty song into an emotional ride.
Mr. Harri, U played another song with one of my favorite female singers/ voices.. By the way in America it is pronounce Car•pen•ter(s) (do not forget the "r" sound in the 1st. syllable).. And after a couple of years they dropped the "The" from their name, it is just Carpenters.. my head is full of trivia stuff.. ♠W.G.
Imagine, for a moment, Angelina Jordan's arrangement and performance of this song. AJ and Karen are right in the same range, with the same rich alto tone. AJ could remind everyone why Karen was one of the very best female vocalists.
Such a special sound man, thanks for sharing. Love the range of different artist you react to, broadening my horizons for sure! WOuld love to see you check out twenty one pilots cover of 'Can't Help Falling in Love', really beautiful and cool video
Two post-Carpenters gems, from Richard's 1987 solo CD "Time". These are just audio, but there was quite a nice video done of the one with Dusty Springfield singing lead... When Time Was All We Had th-cam.com/video/2Nr_1B9Ufgc/w-d-xo.html Something In Your Eyes th-cam.com/video/4KhSUssEGBc/w-d-xo.html First one has Richard multitracked into an a cappella choir, and a short flugelhorn solo by Herb Alpert. This lady's voice was a gift straight from the universe. Pitch perfect and like crystal. It was otherworldly...

Karen had the voice of an angel. RIP Karen.

A gift only God could give.
Can you imagine her singing a nursery rhyme or reading one to a child?. Total sublime peace and contentment.

YES.....; It's an Angel...........
Her Brother Richard was a good singer also and a Genius.
yes, he did the musical arrangements as well. Best duo ever, IMHO!!!
Please check out Carpenters Sing a Song ,Live and Hurting each Other and For all we Know, also Place to Hide away..
So sad that she fought inner struggles about her appearance that eventually ended in her death. Gone way too soon. Thank you for keeping her alive for us!
One of the most played songs at weddings . It's so beautiful.
Did you know that, in the recording studio, the Carpenters usually did it in just one take!!!!
This was the wedding Song to have! I grew up listening to the Carpenters and wanting to be Karen Carpenter. It’s a shame that we lost her so young. If only she knew how beautiful and talented she was.
you should have seen Jack Ashford of the Funk Brothers play a tamborine
One of a kind for sure
Voice of an angel!
Yes Harri, Karen Carpenter was one of the best voices of a golden age of voices. Joni, Carol, Joan, Carly, Melanie, Janis, but Karen is something special.
Please do the Carpenters’ “Goodbye to Love” sometime. The original recording, not a TV performance (because they always cut it short).
"that voice you can trust,,," perfect words om
I just closed my eyes while listening to this song and was transported back to when I was 11 years old in 1970. I was crying like a baby because Karen’s voice was so beautiful and the fact that she is no longer with us.
I absolutely love her voice.
Harri! 😂😂😂 That tambourine comment is an inside joke in my household! 😂😂 My daughter says All the SONGS from my generation have SERIOUS tambourine! 😂
I love your reaction to the video of the Carpenters! Karen's voice is so smooth, and with Richard's harmony is so beautiful ❤️! Just such pretty music! Karen left us too soon! Rip Karen, voice of an angel!

Karen Carpenter and Linda Ronstadt: two angelic voices separated by an octave or two!
I agree, they’re two of the best ever.
One was taken too soon, and one lost her ability to sing :(.
Love them both.

Thanks Harri! They have a great cover of The Beatles Ticket To Ride, perhaps a double reaction video?
Great reaction and your inputs were awesome ... thank you Harri 😊
Lovely
The Tambourine Master LOL
There's so much more!
Suggestion for next Carpenters is "Goodbye to Love" (album version, not live.) Its got a great guitar solo at the end. One of their best.
She went to one voice lesson, and at the end of the lesson the teacher said “you don’t need me”
Richard Carpenter the first verse of this song on the bank commercial Andy called up John Williams and asked him if there was any more to the song and the rest is history
So many weddings, and I'm from a small town.
hey harri. if you have never heard it, i suggest you react to “time of the season” by the zombies. you would love it
In this video the guy with the tambourine is clearly the most important one there.
you should check Karen out playing the drums
Please make a reaction to Carpenter's song "Kiss Me The Way We Did Last Night"... Thanks 😊
