Ken is really coming to terms with unlocking the inner metalhead part of himself he didn't know he had. The itch of metal that grows inside like a hunger and the joy that comes when you can engorge on a tasty hunk of metal meat and just let your inner animal devour to your heart's content.
Check out his live performance at inkarceraion (sp?) Fest. He silenced the crowd, outdoors with thousands of people, and did the breakdown without a mic. The fact that he could be heard beyond the security line is incredible.
Eh, it’s validating the feelings you already have which releases tension. It doesn’t take the anger, anxiety, etc. away. If anything it enhances it. I’ve done research on the research for a research PAPER. Music is confirming but rarely will it change your mood. The cognitive dissonance dissipates a bit. That’s about it. That said, I’m in a metal mood, and I’m fine to be angry. Acceptance.
@@Ericsaidful I have also done a masters level thesis in personality and musical preferences. While you're correct, however there was actually a cathartic effect found for aggressive music as a whole, in particular metal music (not my research). So it actually can take those feelings away as it allows for you to deal with them.
@@vvoof2601 How can catharsis be quantified in order to draw any conclusions? I know it’s very subjective and what makes one person angry, and further validated potentially irrational feelings given a situation, may help calm another person down. My point was to say to be careful, because with someone non-verbal you just don’t really know.
What's terrifying is his voice LIVE. I caught them in Toronto this summer and while im sure his vocals have been processed for the song, he actually sounds BETTER live. It's incredible. His voice needs nothing 😮
I think it's just layered in studio. Aside from obvious stuff like EQ, compression etc. And some of his techniques engage multiple areas of the throat and can sound like 2 "layers" simultaneously. So live he does sound freaking nuts. Man has got some serious homegrown skill.
"What is it about metal that makes you happy?" Most of the metal you've been recommended is made with passion and meaning. It's the best of the best, basically.
Sometimes you just need to listen to the most metal of metal. It's like sandpaper that smooths you out. I'm not familiar with this band yet but Lorna Shore made me fall in love with deathcore so this was great.
If you really don’t know them yet do yourself a favour and check out their last album kostolom I’m a hiphop head through and through but man StP just rips
I love the lyrics how they sound like hell come to earth, but the underlying message seems to be like "hey man, havent you realised we're all brothers and sisters?" So wholesome 🥰
Ken, 7 days from now they are dropping a new song called "Conflict" . The teaser is mind blowing with his high to the basment low on the vocals. The chuck Norris of metal vocalists.
Alex is just a one of a kind talent, such a unique vocal ability. The band matches his energy with their music. Metal is the soundtrack of my life, started in early 80's with Maiden, then thrash carried me through adding groovecore and metalcore. I'm 53 now and Jinjer and STP carry the banner for me. 🤘
Love this reaction and journey you are on! The more you listen to metal, the more it becomes an everyday necessity. The diversity, energy, complexity and so much talent that’s required.
Ken - I've ben dipping in to your channel over the years. As others have said, you are finding where metal can sit in your life. Different music for different days.
STP is like the jet fuel for your brain. If I’m working out and don’t have the energy to push myself, this band gives me that extra boost to finish the job.
Ken you're a metalhead! If Alex Terrible makes you happy you have totally arrived! What a journey, I remember your earlier metal reactions where you weren't certain about the growls xD. You've come a long way. Keep 'em coming cheers!
I've been loving this video since it dropped. I even heard an early version of it when I saw them live in April. This was to be the first single from their next album, due out in the Autumn. Granted, it now is Autumn, so the schedule may have slipped a little.
It won't be dropped earlier than 2024. Alex went to Russia to record vocals for new album in August and knowing how long Kostolom was delayed and knowing their relationship with Sumerian, my bet, spring to summer of 2024 earliest. Bear in mind it's their last album on Sumerian, at least according to contract.
@@Carn1valle Tank the Tech did mention that it would be their last album with Sumerian. There could be a mad bidding war from the other labels for them, or they could even choose to go independent.
You are spot on with the it's just a show idealism in my opinion, if you look at his other content online he seems like a very down to earth personable guy. I can't wait to go see them in May!!
What I DID need was You needing it! Thank you for your honesty and appreciation of music och your feelings. Have a great weekend! Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
Check out 'King' by Immortal Disfigurement and get that mental chaos subdued a little further! Great reaction and I totally get it. Theres something about metal that really helps
Slaughter To Prevail - Viking (Alex Terrible One Take Live Vocal )
Honestly loved this reaction! Kinda tapping in to the joy of metal! It makes you happy! Sometimes you just need something brutal to get some frustrations out! Keep it up Ken 🙏🙏
As always, Alex and the whole band are great, great reaction to the video, as for that phenomenal growl, I think it's because of the difference in spoken language, because people whose mother tongue is English, the letter R sounds different to them than to people in Europe.
Metal somehow relaxes me. I'm what some bands call a theater fan. Not going crazy during a show. I like to sit / stand and just take it all in, not missing a single note! I worry some take it as I'm board but that's not it at all.
So now I know 2 kinds of music where the Russian language matches perfectly for someone who doesn't understand the words: very sad ballads and very angry metal. 😂
As a metal vocalist, Slaughter is one of my favorite brutal bands, metal music has always been highly cathartic. I have a theory that Alex is doing a distorted version of sub harmonics, would love to know what you think about it!
If you really enjoyed this, you should react to his live vocal play through of this song. Just him sitting at his desk, no layering, no effects, nothing but Alex and a mic!! Truly amazing!!
Metal is cathartic (sp?) - it releases stress because no matter what you are going through, metals anger is greater & will make your issues melt away in comparison.
Approx. A very short lesson, not a lesson - examples (I'm not a teacher like you) on "Growling voice": modern growling (not the beginnings like Possessed, Death, Venom - it wasn't growl yet, just a good "scream" downsized). The first "real" growl starts in the '90s: Ross Dolan (Immolation), Glen Benton (Deicide), Frank Mullen (Suffocation), George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher (Cannibal Corpse) - of course I used the same order as Wikipedia... .But I know what I'm doing, I know everyone. I'll add Napalm Death (Mark "Barney" Greenway), Carcass (Bill Steer), Morbid Angel (David Vincent), Opeth (Mikael Akerfeldt) and many, many others. Only that the latter present not a "growl" but an "early growl", i.e. more of a "scream-growl", something that is a different type of vocal (because even Lemmy, this Lemmy already had such so-called, rough influences). See ya I'm very written out today, but I'll just add that children at a metal concert are safer and more protected than in any disco/dance club. Believe me, I have been attending metal concerts and festivals for over 30 years. I see what I see.
Wow, what a performance. It's not my cup of tea, but I admire their intensity. You should check out Dan Vasc's Black Wind, Fire and Steel. It's a Manowar cover featuring Luis Mariutti, Brazilian Guitarist. Fantastic stuff.
I feel the same, mostly. I like a few songs of theirs, but I'm not a huge fan of their music. That said, I admire their energy and I think they're really cool dudes. If given the chance to see them live, I'd jump on it.
Ken is really coming to terms with unlocking the inner metalhead part of himself he didn't know he had. The itch of metal that grows inside like a hunger and the joy that comes when you can engorge on a tasty hunk of metal meat and just let your inner animal devour to your heart's content.
A feeling for the “metaly-est metal” .. He’s so brilliant and genuinely curious.
Yeah my feelings exactly.
Hell, that was poetic
Write a book man, this was deep 🤝
Awesome and so cool reaction...you are so great to watch on your metal journey. Thanks
The 'Gator Trill' gets em everytime 🤘🤣
Main reason I watch the reactions to this song
The fans go "woah" while the vocal coaches/singers/producers go "wtffff"
People think it's a tongue roll. It's a deep fry with LOTS of air. I can do it for about 2 seconds!
That gator growl gets everyone 😂
Check out his live performance at inkarceraion (sp?) Fest. He silenced the crowd, outdoors with thousands of people, and did the breakdown without a mic. The fact that he could be heard beyond the security line is incredible.
The moment you stopped at 8:40, at a concert, you still hear and feel the power of his voice all over the room.
Metal is auditory power, confidence, and energy, so, feeling better, after listening to metal, makes sense.
Correctumundo!

your discord notification audio came through. spent a second looking at my discord before i realised lol. but great reaction.
Got me too lmao 🤣🤣
I am so genuinly happy and proud of Ken that he's getting into metal and that he's loving it. And not just any old metal but THIS!
5:58 Fam, I’m thinking that maaaaybe Ken is starting to ~like~ metal?
Hey-good work, everyone! Carry on.
I always need STP and Alex Terrible, Ken, you aren't the only one! Great reaction! Made me giddy that you got a hankerin' for 'em.

You're never alone in needing the "metalest metal" in your life. We all do whether we admit it or not. Metal makes the soul happy. Great reaction.
You have to watch it live!! He actually does that part without a mic!!!
THIS!!!
That’s because everything’s on backing track
Nooo, it's because his projection is amazing! Watch it in real life!! There's absolutely no backing track.
@@jamesgreer9366 They play to a backing track that includes but not limited to: vocals, bass, guitars (including solos!), drums and synths

Most Excellent reaction!! Thanks!

you're not alone buddy! metal is always there in tough times
"Best dad ever" 😂 Yes, 100% true.
This song relaxes me and at the same time gives me the extra mile in the gym.

Great band🤘
It does make you happy, And energetic.
The intro growl is him rolling his R’s. Insane how creative he is
Badass reaction man !

Dude, I appreciate this one man - couldn't agree more, Alex Terrible is like the Incredible Hulk of death core. He's an effin super hero man!
You should look at the one take Alex did for this, hearing the vocals on that one hits even harder and I think it was better than the studio version

We all needed it
that's Viking poetry =) a study of music showed that metal heads are the happiest ones =)
"i needed this today" not something Ken of 6 years ago would have ever thought he would say. (i imagine)
awwww look at our metal head transform
Notice when he goes into these final breakdowns that he has no mic. He does this live aswell
This is the best kind of content
Also this reaction made me smile…thank you lol

would have been great to react to his one take studio session of the song, as a vocal coach.
either way, epic song.

Fuckin Right!! I needed that as well!
yeah.. same feeling
