    @3:50 I notice that the shading detail of Yoshi's white chest get blown-out with the component+OSSC combo.

    Just wanted to say how good of a comparison video this is. Very informative well done :)

    If one already owns a decent upscaler I don‘t really see a point in doing this mod. Thanks for the video, this helped a lot!

    I use compenent cables and I don't see big differences, either. I own a PAL Wii console with RGB working out of the box. It's connected to my Retrotink 5x and I use component cables from Hama (not sure if that brand and products exists elsewhere). With USB Loader GX I turned off Deflicker filter and set Video width to Framerbuffer. This is plenty to me so I don't need to waste my money for a HDMI mod.

      Not all Wii’s are compatible with the framebuffer trick - has to be a launch Wii. The AVE HDMI mod is like less than 1/3rd the cost of a RT5X so in terms of “wasting money”, the hdmi mod is the more fiscally responsible of the two.

      Is Retrotink even worth it? I mean, $300+ for that seems overkill, unless you really really need 240p on your HDTV, but 480p seems fine enough on modern TVs

    I'm currently using a decent 3rd party component cable with no upscaler on my Samsung 65" TV to play Game Cube games on my Wii. It looks pretty good. I might look into the HDMI mod but I am satisfied with using component cables.

    Have a way to force Madworld and other games with 480i running in 480p. You need the USB Loader GX. In settings put Video Mode Force NTSC(or PAL)480p and Dol Video Patch ON. For Castlevania Rebirth the secret is put Wii in 4:3 in widescreen settings in Wii Settings and put this Format in tv. With this no blur in this game. I using my Wii with OSSC too and i like It. this video clarified to me that I don't need to modify my wii. Sorry for my english i'm from Brazil.Thanks

    Great video! I was looking for a video that would show me what I wanted to see and you delivered. Did you pay for someone to install the mod or did the company offer this as an option? I am learning to solder right now and not that a Wii would be easy to replace if broken, I just wasn’t sure how long it took to get the installation completed.

      I purchased the Wii with the mod already installed from someone that was doing an extremely limited run (Only a handful of pre-modded consoles), so I can't offer any input regarding the length of time for the process or how involved it is. I could only speak about the end-result with the tools at my disposal. For that, you could check out Voultar's video. He goes in depth with the installation process.

    Since it wasn't mentioned in the description... Is your YPbPr signal fixed with the Extrems' 480p fix on a "fixable" console?

    I just got my ave hdmi kit in now. My plans are to have that plus the usb loader gx screen settings and an mclassic. I don’t have proof yet but in my head I feel like altogether it would make a big impact.

    • @cheezyfriez12

      I don't think you can enable the framebuffer this way, but the deflicker filter can actually be disabled at the system level with a priiloader system menu hack. I have it enabled on my wii and it made a huge difference.

    • @thetravelermike4963
      @thetravelermike4963 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cheezyfriez12 usb loader gx has both deflicker and frame buffer however that doesn’t really matter to me since I’ll be forcing 4:3 on all my games both through the console and through the mclassic running in retro mode. The goal is to have a colorful and clear 4:3 1080p image with a pure digital signal and antialiasing from the mclassic. In my mind I feel like it’ll be a big visual upgrade. Especially for games that use the hardware well.

    • @thetravelermike4963
      @thetravelermike4963 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also I use it for GameCube games as well so the 4:3 just makes sense to me to get the best out of these gens of consoles.

    Did you turn deflicker off and use framebuffer? Is that even necessary when using an actual hdmi mod?

    Which revision of the Wii do you have? Because the newer ones were known to have better component output than the older ones.

      Yes! To this mod's credit, you can use both HDMI and Component outputs at the same time. That is how I was able to get capture footage for this video.

    How did you turn off Castlevania Adventure Rebirth's bilinear filter??

    • @ZombiePhoenix
      @ZombiePhoenix  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's been a while since I've done it, but I think all I had to do was set the Wii to 4:3 mode instead of 16:9. I don't remember if there was anything else that I had to do, but I think that should fix it.

    Can someone explain why someone should do this mod vs just buying a wii u and doing a basic CFW mod? What advantages does the original wii have over the wii u that already has a HDMI?
    Thanks

    • @ZombiePhoenix
      @ZombiePhoenix  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At 5:10 I showed a quick sample of the Wii U. it's not a side-by-side comparison, but it's not hard to tell that the Wii U's HDMI looks worse than the Wii AVE-HDMI mod and even the component output.
      FYI - The clip from the Wii U is from a basic softmodded system.

    • @edwardrivera8936
      @edwardrivera8936 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good Vibes Gaming just released a video just on this about the Wii having better output than the WiiU’s lack of video options. I believe they said if you are into gamecube upscaling only, the WiiU is a good option for those games if your wiiU is modded that is.
      I believe another factor would be the TV you are using so mileage may vary?
