Thank you both for coming to our country, and having mixed experiences of joy and sadness. In any country, there are good things and bad things, but I hope that one day when you come back, things will be better and maybe one day not far away, I will also have the opportunity to visit your country. I hope to see you again. I wish you both good health, luck, and success. Best regards.
Hi Debbie and Tim. I watched this video last night and then my husband came in half way through, thanks so much for all the detail you gave. I downloaded the Apps suggested and will watch the same video again tonight with a pen and paper. Not only that my husband has now suggested both last night and confirmed this morning that we should visit again in Feb 2025. We have been before 7 years ago and loved it,loved the people but it was for a job so this time it will be for fun.I cant wait to watch all of your videos,Im so happy to discover two down to earth and friendly people who are willing to sharetheir experiences and prepare the rest of us.Thanks again Cheers Sue
I’m heading to Vietnam in a couple of weeks for the first time, I’ve watched heaps of videos and this has been the most informative and had so many wonderful tips! I love both of your calm and respectful attitudes as well! Thanks for sharing 😊
Hi Guys great tips even going to Vietnam for over 30 years I still learn something. The laundry is a good one , how ever they need to be told to be careful not to put whites unless they ask do do separate. I get this done at Hotels or wash by hand . They will put everything in the same machine. I recently got my tops come back grey with red dye through and had to get them sent to the dry cleaners there, so just be careful. I had forgotten but that a lesson I should have known. It’s Vietnam 🇻🇳 it’s a fantastic place just have an open mind. The lowest paid are actually the ones selling tissues and gum . They are worth giving small change. The locals know this . We are so lucky living in a western country 🙏🏼
Dear Debbie and Tim, thank you so much for all your videos and specific detales and information on your visit to places in Vietnam. I so much enjoyed every moment of it since I am planning to visit with my family. By chance I landed on your site and since then I am looking out for new videos. I am not yet a subscriber 😊 but liked all your videos. Thank you so much and stay blessed. Greeting from the Netherlands
Great tips guys. We are on our first visit to vietnam and I just watched your video on board the lotus train between ninh binh and da nang. Another thing- as Aussies here we are finally remembering to merge right instead of left when walking 😂
Thank you so much for your honest and helpful tips and information about travelling in Vietnam without any negative exaggeration , generalization and falseness . As a clinical pharmacist I also suggest to all foreign tourists in VN to take probiotic medicines every day to prevent gastro-intestinal issues . This is useful not only in Vietnam but also in many other tropical countries in SEA , South Asia , South America , Africa , Middle East and even China .
Hi Debbie and Tim thank you for this video this is very helpful as we are also Australian and planning to travel to Hanoi for the first time. Me and my husband found your channel randomly in utube while watching vlogs about Vietnam. We love your videos they are informative, entertaining , inspiring and relaxing. Goodluck to your channel and more travel videos to come. 😊
Thanks Debbie & Tim, have really enjoyed watching all your Vietnam videos & enjoyed your tips also. We have been a few times, but still found some new things to explore and tips also, love finding new things to do. 🥂Cheers to you both, keep up the good work & safe travels.
Loved your Vietnamese series. Can’t wait to go and try all of that beautiful food. I also can’t wait for you to get back to your farm - I miss it. It’s a little slice of my home town whilst living in the UK.
Absolutely love you guys. Your information and advice are top notch. However....a couple of corrections/additions. You mentioned the visa cost being 30 Day Single Entry for $25 and 90 Day Multi Entry being $50. Actually you can get a 90 Day Single Entry also for $25 - Basically all 3 month single entries are $25 and all 3 month multiple entries are $50. And most importantly.....Popeyes. You don't need to go through security to get it. There is one landside in the International Arrivals terminal (If you are using the domestic terminal, there is a free shuttle bus between the two). It's pretty much right as you come out the gate, near where you bought the SIM cards. For SIM cards by the way, if you don't need it urgently, the price to set up a Viettel for a similar plan at one of their branches downtown is exactly half the cost of doing so at Hanoi Airport.
Thank you, guys. Your videos are so helpful and really enjoyable to watch. We are travelling to Vietnam and Cambodia for the first time very soon and we are so excited . Your tips and advice are going to help us. Hope we have a stomach of steel like you guys but are certainly going to embrace the adventure. 😊😂
Informing about good adresses to avoid scams or other problems , learning to bargain when it's possible will make your stay safe and pleasant . Thank you for rating my country positively .
Very enjoyable with some very handy tips! As useful as translation apps are, it does make me a little sad that learning languages will probably soon be a thing of the past. It's always fun to learn a few local words and see what happens, with food, directions etc. It feels much like seeing the same types of shopping mall with the same old generic shops everywhere, and has taken a lot of the magic out of travel. The 'Express' in the Grab app is for parcel pickup and delivery by the way.
Another great video thanks guys, I'm going to have to save this one to keep coming back to it. What is your favourite hotel or homestay in all of Vietnam please? And out of interest, how long is your flight to Oz from V?
That's great! So glad it was helpful! 😁OK our favourite place is VERY hard to say but if we have to we would say the Saigon Morin in Hue. This is the link to a video about it th-cam.com/video/z1T7OEB3NiI/w-d-xo.html It is approx. 2.5 hours from Hanoi to Singapore and then approx. 6 hours from Singapore to Cairns. The layover in Singapore varies depending on airlines be we often end up with a big lay over which we don't mind because it is a very cool airport 😁👍
Thank you so much for all your advice! Are there any well known, local remedies for upset tummy etc? You know like Bali for instance they recommend red cordial and charcoal tablets for Bali Belly etc
Thanks for the videos, we’re visiting next year and you’ve been so helpful. One question, I noticed in your videos, you regularly order ice with your drinks. Can I assume all businesses use bottled water to make their ice?
We eat ice, salads, herbs everything 😁 we never get sick but you can't assume it's made from bottled water. There are a lot of big ice suppliers that sell to everyone but you never know😊
Thank you for all advise. Can you please answer a few questions . Me and my three children from australia are coming to Vietnam in 5 weeks and your advise is so helpful . Can you tell us can you drink the water or shall we only drink bottle water ? Also we are planning on flying from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh. Should be book before we leave through an agent or on line or would it be okay if we waited until we got to Da Nang ? Thank you
Yes, absolutely. Water is good we do drink a lot of bottled water but we also have heaps of ice in beer, juices and smoothies. Your hotel will give you free bottled water too. It is not a drama. There is bottled water every 2 steps. You can easily wait until you are in Da Nang to book 😁👍

That shoe shine thing is crazy. I probably just say NO firmly and tell them that I will not pay since i don't ask for it. Who needs shoes shine while walking around in that hot and humid and many times not clean environment???
Please advice whether it is ok for 66 years old Danish single woman to retire in vitnam, not interested to get a youner boyfriend but rather a senior respectable english speaking community. Thanks
Lots of people retire to Vietnam. It is a very safe country. As for community we are not experts on that. We are members of lots of Facebook expat groups and there is a lot of English speaking expats on there all the time. Maybe join some of them 🥰
