1999’s The New Adventures of Pinocchio (a very underrated sequel to 1996’s The Adventures of Pinocchio starring Jonathan Taylor Thomas) is also one that hadn’t made its way to streaming and also one that never had an HD or 4K release overseas or in the US. The first film didn’t do well at the box office which led to a sequel getting made 3 years later which is a direct-to-video film. Few reasons I can think of could be either due to legal issues of who owns the rights to it, negative feedback, or simply no one wants the movie in existence. The best version of the movie we got atm is on the widescreen release of The Weekly Reader Presentation on DVD with DTS 5.1, Dolby Digital 5.1, English and French stereo audio options. There are versions made available on VHS and DVD but those are released in fullscreen from what I’ve researched. Skipping to the ending credits of the film, it states it was shot on Kodak Eastman film stock which means it was shot on 35mm. It’s almost been 25 years since the direct-to-video sequel came out and a first time HD or 4K release of it (be it from one of the boutique labels such as Vinegar Syndrome, Arrow Video, Blue Underground or Kino Lorber) would be a good time to celebrate its 25th Anniversary. It’s like give it the 4K treatment by finding the original camera negatives to which the film was sourced from or an interpositive if not accessible, frame-by-frame cleanup dirt and debris non-existent with the picture, extract more colors out of it as possible with the HDR10 or Dolby Vision grading and present its 5.1 track in a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 format that’s very detailed, clean and respectful to the source; no alterations needed. Although I’m not sure if this idea will surface due to rights issues or people simply not giving a crap about it.
There is a world of difference between something only on DVD vs only on VHS. DVD is a modern digital format that's still widely supported by just about everything with a CD drive and a screen, not to mention the most popular home video format still. VHS is simply obsolete. Every home video format since VHS has had diminishing returns, so we're still catching up with VHS-only releases.

The playing side of the disc's are silver and each disc has a menu, BUT the back only gives you a plot outline. There is nothing to indicate who produced this! Another good one trapped on VHS, is Godzilla 1985, due to rights issues with music, Toho, and the original company that release it in US going bankrupt it’s never been rereleased past VHS.. I’m referring to the heavily edited, with added scenes of Raymond Burr, Americanized version of the Return of Godzilla which did get a Blu-ray release about 7-10 years ago. I went searching and I found a laserdisc rip of Beastmaster 2 and a 1080p digital webrip version of Mischief, there is a 1080p version of How to Be a Player looks like it was a amazon webrip.
We need Dead Presidents, Baby Boy, Dangerous Minds and Hideaway with Jeff Goldblum and Alicia Silverstone on blu ray and there are A LOT of tv shows from my youth like Nikki, City Guys and One World that to my knowledge aren't even on DVD. 🎥
@@thelastmoviestanding Yeah, I have that dvd too but it's WAY too oldschool now. I think it's even full frame but it's time for a special edition bluray of that one. It has SCREAM FACTORY written all over it if you ask me or atleast back in the day when Scream Factory was still doing good stuff. 🎥
Mischief, a really good movie about friendship. Kelly Preston’s performance in her prime gave every teenage boy a headache with her beauty in this film. Jami Gertz/ Lost boys & Less Than Zero, Catherine Mary Stewart/The Last Starfighter & Night Of The Comet. Loved this movie as a kid and still. The two lead guys I like along with the antagonist spoiled guy DW Brown from Fast Times At Ridgemont High. If they made this a 4k or Blu Ray day 1 pick up for me.
I really feel like Kino Lorber would pick this up, feels like something they would do. I honestly don't really care for the 2 male leads, but I love the arc Doug McKeon's character ends on when he stands up for himself with the bully & get's the nerdy girl who liked him the whole time
I’m waiting for Paybacks theatrical but on 4k lol I got the Blu-ray & it’s only the directors cut which is not the same movie at all lol had to import from the UK

Down Periscope The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard Destination Wedding (no American Blu-Ray) The Brother From Another Planet Salute Of The Jugger (the American edit "The Blood Of Heroes" is on a crappy DVD. They need to take the original Australian version of the bluray and make it American, since Australia is now out of the bluray business) Dogma Toys Midnight Madness
@@thelastmoviestanding i can see the cheapest one is a US version for £15. I always keep thinking as soon as I buy that, they'll bring out a UK release! the movie still holds up! so funny! Definitely couldn't get made today lol
Today i was very lucky to find Eddie Murphy's "Life" on dvd, it was a combo with Bowfinger
I went searching and I found a laserdisc rip of Beastmaster 2 and a 1080p digital webrip version of Mischief, there is a 1080p version of How to Be a Player looks like it was a amazon webrip.
message me links! lol
I have Hideaway coming up in another video soon. There is a DVD of that, I have it. Baby Boy & Dangerous Minds for sure need Blurays!
@@user-by4ut5ug5o Fair Game from 1995 with Cindy Crawford only has a Full Frame DVD available too, no widescreen.
I honestly don't really care for the 2 male leads, but I love the arc Doug McKeon's character ends on when he stands up for himself with the bully & get's the nerdy girl who liked him the whole time
I'm still waiting for the directors cuts of Lethal Weapon to make it to Blu-ray.
I’m waiting for Paybacks theatrical but on 4k lol I got the Blu-ray & it’s only the directors cut which is not the same movie at all lol had to import from the UK
Beastmaster 2 should be getting a Blu-ray release soon. Mischief was a very fun movie and I did buy the dvd just for Kelly Preston.
The one in my collection that I can think of off the top of my head is Johnny Dangerously.
I don't think ive ever heard of that 1
@@nah....6151 unless a miracle happens with Sony, yea... its stuck
How to Be A Player seems to be on Tubi.
Twins is my favorite movie of all time! Growing up with that movie I of course knew who Kelly Preston was. So I accidentally saw a certain part of Mischief on HBO at someone’s house and as an 8 year old I was immediately startled and upset at the same time. I was an innocent fan of Twins and was definitely educated on reality that day!
lmao that's a cool story man!
Mischief is in HD 1080p on Amazon prime .I Watched it twice in the theatre .it has been on Amazon for Some years Now .But hoping Big time for a Bluray or 4K .
I'm really hoping for a blu-ray or 4k too! it's not on Amazon prime right now, in the US at least
Have you heard of the film 'Perfect' with Jamie Lee Curtis and John Travolta? Think it was 1985 but I have that on dvd here in the UK haven't seen it anywhere since, not sure what the sitch is in the States?
Triumphs of a Man Called Horse only has a VHS Release!
Some movies are on streaming and HD and we don't have on DVD!! Several Corey Haim movies like Fast Getaway!! I don't get why we aren't seeing some of his classic's!! Dream Machine!? Fast Getaway 2!!
Jamie Gertz is now worth billions of dollars (wealthiest actress in the world). Part owner of the Atlanta Hawks basketball team.
What!?? No shit? lol I didn’t know that
@@thelastmoviestanding Her husband is co-founder of Apollo Global Management, a private equity firm. His net worth estimated at 11.3 billion. I'm old enough to remember seeing that movie Mischief in the movie theater.
@@countyfair74 I love mischief! Haha I think that came out before I was born hahaha
I found a 3 disc region free imported dvd set of the Beastmaster Collection not long ago. I already owned the first one and had never seen 3 so really I just bought it for part 2. Super happy to finally own that one.
I was going to buy that set but wasn't sure about the quality of them, are they good? I think that 3 pack also is expensive now. I just want a legit good quality copy of Beastmaster 2 lol
@@thelastmoviestanding honestly the quality ain't all that great. Full frame ratio. Maybe slightly better quality than vhs. But a lot better than I had. 😆
@@docsamson7575 a brand new Laserdisc is probably the best quality available lol & I think that's still Full Frame ratio
Have you seen house of the long shadow. All the great horror stars from the past along with Desi Arnaz Jr. Really good movie
never heard of it, ill have to check it out
I have that Restraint DVD and The First $20 Million DVD. I need Open Range on blu ray or 4K as they never released it in the US. I do have Open Range on my Vudu account in HD though and the DVD.
yea, didn't 101 Films in the UK release it on Blu-ray in 2021? Im surprised it hasn't come to the US given Costner's recent praise of physical media. It's a Touchstone film from Disney so... hope you have a region free player for that UK version hahaha I think it's on a 50gb disc so quality should be legit.
Stuff I have on DVD that I would love to have on Blu-Ray........
Down Periscope
The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard
Destination Wedding (no American Blu-Ray)
The Brother From Another Planet
Salute Of The Jugger (the American edit "The Blood Of Heroes" is on a crappy DVD. They need to take the original Australian version of the bluray and make it American, since Australia is now out of the bluray business)
Dogma
Toys
Midnight Madness
I have Mischief and Restraint on Blu Ray it's a UK import also Berlin Syndrome on Blu Ray with Teresa Palmer on it
I have the Laserdisc and dvd of How to be a Player
Movies I want blurays for that the UK only have on DVD:
Cradle 2 the grave
Loaded weapon 1
Fortress (Christopher Lambert)
oh man Cradle 2 the grave never came to the UK on blu? its pretty cheap here, you should import it. I know it got a German release too
@@thelastmoviestanding i can see the cheapest one is a US version for £15. I always keep thinking as soon as I buy that, they'll bring out a UK release! I have imported a couple of blurays from Germany, such as Boss Level and Guns Akimbo, as we didn't get Blu-ray releases of those. Oh and somehow Arnie's 6th day doesn't have a UK Blu-ray either, have a German version of that too.
What is the movie theme of the opening introduction in all your videos
its called "Neon Lights", from Motion Array
@@thelastmoviestanding I wrote you an email asking for your address to ship John Tucker to you.
@@robbie--cb2kg oh cool! I'm checking right now!
RE: Your thumbnail.
No biggie, but the "forbidden sign" slash goes from the lower left to the upper right.
Not from upper left to lower right.
Meanwhile, great topic regarding films that were denied after the ancient DVD era began.
LMAO!!! I didn't know the line was supposed to be a certain way lol I just googled it & grabbed the 1st PNG file I saw. If you google it, they have them both ways. maybe it's different in different countries, not sure. but cool fun fact, learn something new every day. I will try to remember that & next time rotate for you, promise hahaha 🤣
Lol I like to beastmaster 2, I wish there was a blue ray. Also Who doesn’t like that song that plays at the end credits!!! 80s awesomeness :)
lol right!
That's "Red Scorpion 2" for me... Last seen on VHS and havn't seen it in yearssssss and kinda really want to (even though I might think it's really bad if I did see it again this many years later). While I don't buy DVDs anymore I would proberly give this one a shot if it atleast had that, but no way am I goin out to look for a VHS copy of it in this day and age. (will never get the new love for VHS again... I lived it and don't wanna go back).
lmao what's funny is I have a nostalgic love for VHS, im making a video about which you probably won't like or agree with hahaha but that ok I know its not for everything. I know people who won't even watch DVDs anymore hahaha
ive never heard of Red Scorpion 2
@@thelastmoviestanding Oh I don't really have any intrest in DVDs either, but atleast if that's the only option there's still a chance I'll pick it up if I really want it. Red Scorpion 2 is the sequel to the 80's Red Scorpion with Dolph Lundgren.. As far as I remember it's in name only, but for some strange reason I just really wanna see it again haha.
@@TheBluCorner I was going to ask if it was the Dolph Lundgren movie cause I never saw the 1st but the name is super familiar. never knew stye made a 2nd.
total genre change lol, but I just ordered Hardbodies 2 yesterday which never came to DVD, its only available in a DVD combo pack & 80s summer pack, but never got a stand alone release
@@thelastmoviestanding Yea I love my low budget 80/90's action movies so both of them are right down my alley. It's actually quite sad really looking into how many movies we loose when there's a new format out that don't port them over :(
@@TheBluCorner 100% agree! That's kinda become a big theme on this channel I didn't originally plan for, giving recognition to a lot of older movies that haven't got the format upgrade they deserve
The movies for me that need at least a blu ray would be: the salton sea, cry wolf, the chumscrubber, and thank you for smoking. You can’t say it will never happen. I always thought we would never get a blu ray of arena from 1989 then out of no where arrow did it. Have faith.
Thank You For Smoking definitely needs a Blu-ray. I just got Cry Wolf on Blu-ray from Germany. I talk about it in my imports video.
I have Restraint on digital just checked also How To Be A Player is on Starz
is How To Be A Player on Starz? holy crap you are right 🤦♂ haha I see it now, for some reason that didn't show up on my research when I googled it. Thanks for the update. I'll have to dig deeper for the next time
I don’t own a blue Ray player and I have no intention of buying one thank you.
DVD only or VHS too? Or streaming only?
IDK I loved Beastmaster from a very young age and even as a kid #2 did nothing for me. Though even as a kid I also loved the Phantasim films, even at 7 or so when some horror still scared me. Beastmaster 2 was a different director and he was no Don Coscarelli. As a kid I just knew something had gone horribly wrong with 2 not what or why ha.
yea it's not that good haha I definitely preferred the original as a kid. the 3rd movie I think I saw once & never liked it hahaha
Pretty sure all the beast master movies are on shudder
Beastmaster 2 is on DVD, I have it.
The 3 pack DVD?
People like myself are fixing broken vhs tapes with Scotch tape it starts playing again with out no problem's everything proven damage blue ray disc movies doesn't play at all like vhs movies does
Love my date with the presidents daughter as a kid wanted to rewatch it and watched it on TH-cam with like 5 parts horrible quality. And then a week or so later I found the vhs at goodwill for a dollar I was screaming 🙀 would love a dvd of it tryed to make one with my dvd recorder but it was like this is protected lol 😵💫
you found the VHS for a $1??? WHAT!!!! i'm low key super super jealous haha
IMDB has these stats for "The First $20 Million..."
Estimated budget, $17 million
Worldwide gross, $5,491
Ouch. lol.
it cost $17mil? wow! definitely doesn't look like it haha I thought it was made for maybe $2mil.
How to be a player birthed the term "badussy" 😂😂
🤣🤣🤌
At least these movies have hard copy and can be reprised in the future, where would we be if copies of memorable films were owned by a minority(Streamers) who could hold you up for ransom
Cannibal: The Musical needs a re-issue. It’s never been available in HD, just VHS and a lousy-looking DVD.
lol ive honestly never heard of that 1, is it form the 70s or 80s?

Another Australian movie I would LOVE to own on BR is Arch Nicholson's Fortress (1985). That movie is childhood core memories and a re-def copy at a reasonable price point would be amazing.
