Man... As a mixed Polish/ Jamaican - Canadian. I cant tell you how cruel it was for them to force me to discover my own history on my own - you build this trust with the system and then it does that squidly thing to you. That shit actually hurt me so much, because I was serving in the military right out of high school by the time I REALLY had the chance to dive into PoC history. We honestly just need someone to guide us through it otherwise its a crash course and it can be quite infuriating for a bit. But it is beautiful to, the endurance is unmated I cant believe what they persevered through. Then you go to Moorish History and see that its clearly being hidden - and it just makes the people doing it look pathetic, like the leaders are not worthy because they are almost scared of empowerment for women and PoCs and its like.... thats so pathetic. We should all be empowered together to become the best version of ourselves. TEACH IT or we teach ourselves and that journey can be maybe not the version that is the best choice for society. We need an educator to guide us through that big time - and its gotta go Alllll the way back to the Moorish Empire and beyond.

As horrible as it may sound, slavery in the USA actually improved our ancestors’ lives over those who remain slaves in Africa. With the exception of math & written components, slavery in United States increased their education & lifestyle beyond what their relatives who remained in Africa as slaves or freemen. Call this a lie? Compare common knowledge of Afro-American slaves with their distant relatives who remained in slavery in Africa. Now, move to the 22nd Century. Most African homes remained without indoor plumbing, electricity, in door kitchens, any A/C or even proper cleaning devices. For those who say Africans have electricity that is true for those who reside in large cities. Via of huge apartments they have electricity. Away from their major cities, in their deserts, most remain without electricity.

That stuff is already covered in American History. I knew about that stuff back in 6th grade middle school. And it was discuss more in high school. At least for me.
Don't need an entire class for it. However. I won't mind if the subject as an elective If people really care about that stuff and want to learn more voluntarily.
Also, what exactly does the "African Studies" implicate? American slavery and emancipation? Thought that is covered in American History already.
Or does African Studies involve teaching different African cultures both old and new; different ethnic groups and way of living, What they wore, their societies, their governments, their beliefs and way of thinking, their folk tales and mythologies? The latter examples i provided, that would be A- okay with me.
But if "African Studies" just teaches primarily about black slavery in America and black oppression in America. Then it should be called something else. And already taught in American History. At least it was for me. Both in middle school. And high school.

    • @terrencenelson176

African American history doesn't start with slavery or emancipation. Same type of history you see history books is covered completely by 1 ethnic group being discussed....that's not odd to you ????

@@terrencenelson176 That's not what I meant. I met. Does African studies just cover feeling sorry for themselves? " White man bad"
Or does it cover African cultures, their societies, their way of life, their clothing, their food, their beliefs, and their histories?
If it's the ladder that is being taught. That's fine with me. If it's the former. It should be called black American history. Because "African" implicates culture, ethic, and ancestral origin.

I was under the impression African Studies only and primarily covers all the negatives like slavery and oppression in America. If you are saying African studies covers more than that.
Like the cultures and societies have different African ethnic groups, their way of life, their beliefs, their agricultures, etc, etc.

The big question is why are African Americans depending on the USA to teach them their own history. Create your own schools and those who want to learn AA history will seek it out.
The USA is a declining society and the last thing the people in power want is for people to become empowerd and have access to reality and see the true face of that murderous country.
African Americans leave that country while you can. Africa is developing and all that you enjoy in the USA can be recreated better on the African Continent with your own people.
