We have stayed in the casitas twice and going a 3rd time this year. We were actually there at the same time (we have a video of that guy on stage rapping as well). This was a great video about the resort.
I stayed here for my honeymoon in one of the casitas back in September of 2022. I will say that we really enjoyed it. The staff was really nice, we loved the room, the food was good, and we loved our pool. If you want to go and enjoy the beach? Not really the place for that. But I will say that we had a great time. One thing they didn't have that I wish they did, was poolside food service. I found myself hungry a lot since we generally ordered room service for breakfast, and waited until dinner to eat. We LOVED how quiet it was!
Very informative video, thanks! Going there in January and all I’m looking for is a quiet place with plenty of pools. So the swim up casita I booked looks perfect. Thank you for the heads up on the extra charges for certain services, very good to know going in.
Thanks for the review with this being my family and friend's first time at an all-inclusive resort I wouldn't want them to have to feel like every one charged for everything and took long with food so thanks for that heads up i would've been so mad. Maybe for a 3-4 time at an all-inclusive but not your first 1-2 times def
I was all excited to try this resort until I saw this video. We went to Secrets Cap Cana last year were thinking about Akumal for 2025. Now I'm second guessing my decision to book this resort. We were so spoiled by SCC. SA has a lot of things included that you have to pay extra for here, it seems. And not being able to get quick food by the pool or beach is a deterrent. Although the Honeymoon Swim out room looks amazing.
@@LutherBuilds since we have traveled here, the price has significantly dropped!! So to me, it’s more worth it now I think! It’s a gorgeous property in general, but when we went here, we paid a lot. So do not get ice cream and things like a coffee shop was is a bit of a letdown. Secrets Akumal is an amazing but comes at a much higher price tag. So I just think it depends on how much you pay and then weigh out the differences.
I really like your reviews, I actually watched all your Cancun videos to decide where to stay. I loved your Moon Palace review but it was a little pricey for me overall for 2 weeks, so I decided on Beach Palace and we can still visit Moon Palace for free so that’s a good option!

We love The Karisma resorts. Have been to a few different resorts there...Casitas, El Dorado Royale, etc. We are going again for 8 days next week. We have NEVER had to pay anything for Extras. ....except for take home bottle of wine on new years eve.❤

UPDATE*** We were misinformed about a few things…the Bali beds are free to anyone at this resort not just at the Casita section like we were told! All the restaurants are open to anyone no matter what section you are in staying in also! There are more restaurants to choose from then what we visted but obviously we couldn't try them all in a 5 night stay. You can look up the options on El Dorados Website ☺ Where should we go next?! We stayed at this resort about 5 years ago and it was our favorite (we have traveled a lot). The beach wasn't great. I guess they have made some changes. We didn't have to pay extra for anything. It was very slow while we were there.

Wow, I have been to Royale two times but the last visit was about 8 years ago. I can tell by your video that it has changed since my visit. I am glad I saw your review because I was about to go back. I do know one thing and that is I never ever had to pay extra for anything when I was there. I guess everything has changed a lot in the last few years. Good job and thanks for saving me some money and disappointment.
I stayed here about 10 years ago on my honeymoon. We loved this place and were thinking about coming back for our 10 year anniversary but as I can see from your video this place has changed.. There were never any extra charges and the golf cart shuttles were always available. Wait time for restaurants weren’t long and that was peak summer time..
The beaches were like this in 2010 when I was there and stayed at the Casitas , we were told it was from Hurricane Wilma (2005) ,it had a huge storm surge that wiped out many beaches in the area . Also when I was there if you stayed on the Casitas side you didn't need reservations for restaurants , you had preferred seating never waited once .
I enjoyed your video! Totally fair review, though I had a much better experience with the food. There are so many factors that determine each individual’s experience at a particular resort . We have stayed there twice-once in one of the “stand alone” casitas (beachfront is what I think they are called) & once in a swim-up casita. I hate that you weren’t impressed with the food. We have always had incredible experiences with their food. My husband and I, however, really love sit-down meals, so we would always go to the nice restaurants even for lunch. We loved the Asian place especially for sushi and we would go there for lunch several days each time we were there. We ate at the Santa Fe Grill for breakfast almost every day. It’s a breakfast place I believe just for Casitas Resort guests. The breakfasts there are truly gourmet and made to order. We never had to wait to be seated, and the food service was fairly quick. We absolutely loved it there! I love the health bar as well! You have to sit down to eat a meal there, but you can get juices on the go to take to your pool, etc. I got juices at least once or twice per day there. It was a great way to get some fruits and veggies in for the day. Totally agree with you on the beaches. You definitely do not come to this resort for the beaches. It’s totally for the rooms, the food, and the amazing pools. My bigger complaint was feeling like they wanted to sell a timeshare. I don’t like being bothered in the middle of my trip and asked about whether I want to listen to a presentation. * I also wish the coconut bar was included in the price to stay. Great video!
I just returned and share your sentiments. I was really impressed with the food and never felt the wait was unreasonable. The resort needs to improve the information it shares with guests - we would have been unaware of some restaurants and amenities had it not been for other guests. I heard a lot of people got bombarded by timeshare sales - thankfully we dodged that somehow

I really just want to enjoy when I’m on my vacation and not have to listen to a presentation while I’m out of the country trying to relax. But you are right… The place is so big that it’s really easy to miss some of the hidden gems for meals, etc.

I was told that the top shelf liquor is served in the Casitas pools…But don’t hold me to that they may have it in the main area as well! We did do a tequila tasting which was really neat so definitely check that out! Hopefully your trip still goes good… it’s still a beautiful resort!

We are taking our kids to Moon Palace in June 🤪 We figured with it having so many amenities for them, awesome pools and food plus super close to the airport so we are not stuck driving an hour or more to a resort it was a good option for a family trip! After that we want to take them to Hard Rock RM!
The best thing you can do is join facebook groups for each resort on your list. The members (who are paying customers) will gladly answer and clarify anything you want. They will post pictures and be completely honest. They will even tell you if the resort may not be best for you and will suggest something that fits more your criteria. Those groups are THE most valuable part of your search.
@@MrBeatboxmasta yes we find those and join with every resort to travel to however some of those groups are saturated with overly positive people who only travel to that one resort…lots of members on those pages or those who has never traveled to any other resort to compare. Some of them get pretty upset if you have one negative thing to say about their resort lol
Finally visited El Dorado on December 2023. No waiting time at restaurant. Reservation are highly recommended but lots of tables empty. Very good meals Very large resort, you can spend time at different pool . No extra cost for pizza (the only we have waited for about 30 minutes to get our pizza, the bad side, we drank more beer waiting)
Love your videos. El Dorado properties are notorious for nickel and diming. We do 5 to 6 all inclusives as well. If y’all haven’t done an excellence property yet def hit one up. Our fave excellence is excellence punta Cana. We also really love secrets huatulco. I think y’all would like it as well!
went for our 30th anniversary (oct2017) swim up casita they were honestly, BUILDING the Casita next door to us, all hours! clear after 10pm I have video of then sawing and hammering -- we paid almost $8k for 5 days !!! the steakhouse was literally on the outside wall of our outdoor shower LOL we will NEVER go or suggest anyone to go to this resort now, tell me a good one in Caracao (we are big time cruisers - diamond level with Carnival -- deciding to do AI's instead - help!)
I was contemplating going there because it's on many top 10 best resorts for food but when I saw the beach, read reviews about all the extra cost, how much less you get if you are not in a casita, etc. I changed my mind.
Yeah I wish I would have seen more reviews on all that before we decided on going! Lol I picked this one over the Valentin Imperial and I was kinda regretting that 🙈 But I’m glad we got to experience it and share this review for people!

ugh i shouldn’t of watched this. First trip ever and first time ever seeing the ocean, we booked this for our 8 year anniversary. We’ve never been out of the US! from minnesota, we were excited about leaving the cold and having a swim up suite ,,, but Now my excitement has died 😭
I still think it’s a nice property! I’m sure you guys will have a good time. There are negatives to lots of places but doesn’t mean it will ruin your vacation :)
February 2022…it’s a nice resort for sure just not our fav. Grounds are beautiful for sure, food & beach were a letdown but you can definitely still have a good time here.
Hi Heather, I need your help. I watched all your videos and I still can’t decide where to go with my hubby and 8year old. We stayed at Barcelon Palace 3x and we love the amenities and the beach! We went to the White Sand disaster- rocky beach. We like the Moon palace but the beach is not clear blue? What do you recommend?
We are planning on trying on Planet Hollywood with the kids hopefully sometime this year. It resembles Hard Rock Riviera Maya but with a better beach and we loved that property! Maybe check into that one?

I know there will be a mixed review on most properties when it comes to things like food because everyone’s tastes are different but I guess if you’re seeing more bad than good then that might not be the best sign 😬
Probably Hotel Xcaret would be our top fav! Cozumel is pretty but the resorts are kind of small and not really our style so haven’t looked too much into staying over there!
looking to book an all inclusive for me and the wife. We are both 36 and love night life. Parties, dancing, clubs, entertainment etc. We are night owls and like to party late. I have seen three videos of yours you bolgged that are of three places we are looking at currently and would like your opinion on which is better for the night life. The three places are The Moon Palace, El Dorado and the other is Breathless Riviera Cancun. Which of the three did would you say is better for the night life and the party aspect... but that won’t also break the bank. El Dorado seems to be the most budget friendly but just curious if the night life is as good as breathless or Moon Palace. We are looking for a Junior Swim up suite as well. Hope to hear back from you soon. P.S. just came across Temptation Cancun. Seems that place is a non stop party. May end up trying Temptation. Any input would be nice. Thanks

Apparently we were misinformed for several things. We were told that the pools and the restaurants in casitas were only for those guests. I am trying to edit the video to get that info shared correctly ! ☺️
@@tiffanypollock6582 you still get privacy with a swim up. Also a choice to just swim up to the bar and swim back instead of getting out and walk up stairs. I think stairs suck at a resort, I've done both, I prefer no stairs.

How is the beach at El dorado royale. Is there any difference between Casitas vs just El dorado royale

February 2022…it’s a nice resort for sure just not our fav. Grounds are beautiful for sure, food & beach were a letdown but you can definitely still have a good time here.
Hi Heather, I need your help. I watched all your videos and I still can’t decide where to go with my hubby and 8year old. We stayed at Barcelon Palace 3x and we love the amenities and the beach! We went to the White Sand disaster- rocky beach. We like the Moon palace but the beach is not clear blue? What do you recommend?
We are planning on trying on Planet Hollywood with the kids hopefully sometime this year. It resembles Hard Rock Riviera Maya but with a better beach and we loved that property! Maybe check into that one?

Hi Heather, I talked to you yesterday on TH-cam regarding Cancun vacation. I check the Planet Hollywood hotel is beautiful but bad reviews about the food quality. What do you think 🤔?
@@marcelavaverka8756 I would maybe try and watch some vlogs on it and lookup the restaurants they offer! I know there will be a mixed review on most properties when it comes to things like food because everyone’s tastes are different but I guess if you’re seeing more bad than good then that might not be the best sign 😬

Probably Hotel Xcaret would be our top fav! Cozumel is pretty but the resorts are kind of small and not really our style so haven’t looked too much into staying over there!
looking to book an all inclusive for me and the wife. We are both 36 and love night life. Parties, dancing, clubs, entertainment etc. We are night owls and like to party late. I have seen three videos of yours you bolgged that are of three places we are looking at currently and would like your opinion on which is better for the night life. The three places are The Moon Palace, El Dorado and the other is Breathless Riviera Cancun. Which of the three did would you say is better for the night life and the party aspect... but that won’t also break the bank. El Dorado seems to be the most budget friendly but just curious if the night life is as good as breathless or Moon Palace. We are looking for a Junior Swim up suite as well. Hope to hear back from you soon. P.S. just came across Temptation Cancun. Seems that place is a non stop party. May end up trying Temptation. Any input would be nice. Thanks
Breathless has definitely been one of our favs hands down! Moon Palace does has some fun night life too though!

We were told that the pools and the restaurants in casitas were only for those guests. I am trying to edit the video to get that info shared correctly ! ☺️

Absolutely! They have a path that runs in front of the beach that would be perfect or all throughout the resort.
Swim-up suites are the only way to go.
Nahh it’s a personal choice I think!
No. I hated our swim up suite… I like the privacy of the second floor!
@@tiffanypollock6582 you still get privacy with a swim up. Also a choice to just swim up to the bar and swim back instead of getting out and walk up stairs. I think stairs suck at a resort, I've done both, I prefer no stairs.
