    It's an awesome gun. I had wanted a P99AS in 9mm for ages. I saw these come up on gun.deals and snapped one up for 379.00. I figured at that price as a apposed to near 600 on gunchoker I couldn't go wrong.
    This is an excellent gun. The fit and finish are exceptional and the gun is extremely accurate. The trigger system is not difficult to learn. The owner needs to train on the situations necessitating it's use. For example for CCW use, I always carry it decocked. If I have to shoot the second shot comes at the short ready single action. Given enough time you could even draw and reset the trigger to single action from cover.

    Oh! This is my unicorn of handguns! I love it! I'm saving just special for this gun in the 4" barrel. Our mutual friend, The firearm guy, turned me onto this gun. He and I both don't know why they're not even more popular. So Kahr and Walther, so nice. As you can tell, I'm in love with this gun. Lol! I like your review very much and can't wait to get mine. Thank you very much for your video! Take good care of yourself and God bless! 😀
    Sincerely,
    The Rev.

    I have the 4.5" version of the MR9. Really a neat pistol, but the grip texture is a bit on the light side. In single action, the trigger is very very nice. Also, round loaded and de-cocked is an extremely safe way to use for a night stand defensive pistol.

  • @Alan-in-Bama
    @Alan-in-Bama 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    After years of wanting the older P99 Walther....when I saw these - I bought the MR-40 with 4.5" barrel. No hesitation.
    Now that I've had it a few years, I would NOT trade it for any other everyday carry pistol !
    It's basically a Walther P99, striker fire and it's simply a great, reliable and ergonomic pistol.
    I'm more accurate with this pistol than any others that I've owned or shot over the years (2-3 decades).

    I just picked one up 2 weeks ago got a really good price on it and have had 3 great range sessions with it. I have the TP9v2 as well and like them both have to say the MR9 has a little bit of a edge as I like the paddle mag release and the grip is just a little shorter making it a tad more comfortable to carry and conceal. Only knock on it is I would like to put big dot or fiber optic sights on it the sights it comes with are fine I'm just getting those middle aged eyes lol

  • @RedEyePergo
    @RedEyePergo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The SA on the P99 and its variants such as SW99 and the MR9 is amazing ! I even prefer it to the PPQ . If you want to make the DA less awful (its like an 11 lb pull ) though put a Wolff Glock 5.5 lb striker spring in it to replace the stock apring. Brings the DA weight down a ton while still being heavy enough to safely carry and feed ammo 100% .

  • @AUTOIGN

    as always great video, I have a p99 AS , I like the longer mag release levers on the p99, both guns have the shortest reset of any gun I have seen.

    Have the 5inch version. Great range gun with ergo's and adjustable sights. Not a lot of after market support but p99 gear/mags will work. Good trigger though a bit mushy with minimum feedback. Not a beginner's gun. Best for those looking for DA instead of extra safeties, but striker simplicity. Super reliable and stunning appearance.

      You are right. My memory is slipping or my fingers are too fast. It is 4.5 inches. By the way, that half inch allows them to bevel the nose in that distinctive Magnum Research look. Very cool.

    This is a Walther and a canik hybrid. Good paddle release from the Walther. The modified canik deckcoker is cool. Canik slide release. Canik sights. Canik trigger TP9V2, canik Takedown. Strange slide serrations...

      @GunsWithGage 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      lani198as so the canik is a copy of the p99 then. I knew the p99 had been around for a long time, but never heard of the magnum research model

    • @lani198as
      @lani198as 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The canik is a mechanical copy as well, so much so that I used the canik tp9 slide in my ppq (that is also mechanically a p99 inside) and worked flawlessly.
      The Mr9 is a direct p99 copy. Look at the sights, trigger, slide release, disassembly levers, slide backplate, magazines from the mr9 and p99/ppq m1 are interchangeable and a about have the price of a walther mag.

Now you got me wondering what other brands are out there along this line that also has the slide lock/release on the right side of the gun as well the magazine release for we lefties?

    Hey man. I just got one of these not too long ago, & it was all nice & tight like you said. But now when it's open, slide back & locked the barrel is pretty loose. @@GBGuns I my opinion, anytime you have more than a traditional double action Trigger, you are wasting your Time and putting yourself in danger. I never liked the Walther P99AS. I'm a retired Police Officer and for about, 11 years of my career, I carried an issued, Sig Sauer P229 .40Cal with a DAK Trigger which I didn't really care for. I felt, it was gimmicky but not unsafe. The Gun you just reviewed, you did a fine job reviewing as you normally, do but I just think that platform is absolutely, ridiculous. The Trigger mechanism is just plain nuts!
