thank you for this creating this video
In A.D. 52 Mar Thoma Sleeha landed in Maliankara in the northern side of Kodungalloor in Malankara (ancient name of the region from present Kerala to Thiruvithamcode, Tamil Nadu) & established Ezharappallikal. The church in Kanyakumari, that is Thiruvithamcode Arappalli, in Tamil Nadu was established by Mar Thoma Sleeha in A.D. 63 after establishing seven churches in Kerala. Arappalli belongs to Malankara Orthodox (Indian Orthodox) Syrian Church of the East with headquarters at Devalokam in Kottayam District of Kerala, because the forefathers of the present members of Arappalli were of Converted Brahmin - Marthoma Nazranees of Malankara Orthodox (Indian Orthodox) Church of the East who were taken to Thiruvithamcode near Kanyakumari by Mar Thoma Sleeha inorder to save them from exploitation from some religious extremists.
Malankara Orthodox (Indian Orthodox) Syrian Church of the East is of the people whose forefarthers were Nambuthiri, Potti & Ayyankar Brahmins who were converted to Christianity by Mar Thoma Sleeha. Till the end of 15th century (that is one century before the burning of Eastern Syriac Liturgical texts in Malankara by Catholic Latin Missionaries who came from Portugal) Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of the East used Eastern Syriac Liturgical Texts (which they got from Church of the East in 3rd century. Church of the East was another Church established by Mar Thoma Sleeha in Ancient Persia before establishing Church in India.)
In 1661, Parambil Chandy Kathanar & many other believers of Malankara Orthodox Church of the East left the Church, then became Catholic & established a self governing Catholic Church in 1663. That Church is Syro Malabar Catholic Church. In 1663, Pope of Rome venerated Parambil Chandy Kathanar as the first Bishop of Syro Malabar Catholic Church with name Alexis de Combo. In the absence of the burned Eastern Syriac Liturgical texts, from 1663 to 1873 Syro Malabar Catholic Church used the Latin Liturgy of Catholic Church of Rome. In 1874, the Portugueese overrule declined & Mar Elia Melus of Church of the East arrived in Malankara. With his help Syro Malabar Catholic Church translated the Catholic Latin Liturgy from Latin to Eastern Syriac. During 17th century, in the year 1665, Patriarch of Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch came to Malankara & forced the Church in Malankara to use Western Syriac Liturgy in the absence of the Eastern Syriac Liturgical texts that were burnt by Catholic Missionaries.
This is how Malankara Orthodox (Indian Orthodox) Syrian Church of the East who didn't join any other category of faith was forced by Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch to use Western Syriac & Syro Malabar Church who were initially of Malankara Orthodox Church of the East from A.D.52 -1660, then became Catholic & used Latin Liturgy of Catholic Church of Rome from 1663 to 1873 translated Latin Liturgy in 1874 with the help of Mar Elia Melus & thereby got Eastern Syriac.
Build in 63AD not in 1863 AD build by St.Thomas
Beautiful video....But there is no historical evidence in India or abroad that St.Thomas came to India....The church maybe quite old but there's no proof that it's built by St.Thomas also disciples of Jesus christ preached about Jesus but least bothered about historical monuments for the posterity.....If it all he came, the syro Malabar mass would have been same as the Latin rites as he was from Galeli and a fisherman and knew only the prayers taught by Jesus in Aramic or perhaps Hebrew being a jew...Still we believe that he came 😊..
