    I have never been to U.S.A. and never been too a Reptile Show. I find these tips really interesting and totally understandable. This is very good content to watch. Show the Reptiles some respect... and the humans too.
    If these points were printed on the ticket or on the back of a map of the show room(s) this would make the show place a lot saver for the reptiles, children, and grownups.

    All very good points! Some stuff is common decency but I can understand why there's a need for videos like this, because some people are just so ignorant. You are so nice about it also, I'm glad there's people like you in the industry.
    Love your videos, looking forward to more 👌🏼

I would advise becoming an IHS member because you get in before the general public and entry is cheaper. Its only around £30/year. I'll definitely be going back. • @EquitySolutionRayRaz

    Seems like you had a rough day and most likely thought of this either all night or couldn’t get sleep cause you were pretty aggravated, unfortunately this should mostly be common sense , the one thing I have noticed in the reptile world was most prices are the prices unless your gonna buy multiple items usually with cash , I used to be the person that would try to ask for a better price but now raising many snakes myself it’s pretty hard to ask if someone can do any better ,ecspecially if they are buying rats every week , I mean breeding rats isn’t much cheaper but ya you definitely learn over time , this is great video

    • @JasonsExoticReptiles
      @JasonsExoticReptiles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I actually had a great day at the show! This is more stuff I've seen over the years and things that I saw happen to the vendors around me. I'm not shy at shows. I'll ask people if they could move over so others can see the animals, tell them let's talk in 10 min so I can help this customer, and tell people that if they are not interested in purchasing I dont want them animals out because it's already stressful enough for them being their. I'll also tell them to stop tapping in my case because the snake is scared and they are not helping Haha.

    • @EquitySolutionRayRaz
      @EquitySolutionRayRaz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jason's Exotic Reptiles right on man , when it comes to my animals I think I’d be a bit up front myself

  • @Sarah_RDG
    @Sarah_RDG 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    These are EXCELLENT points. As a vendor, I thank you. Also, thanks to all of the customers out there who go to shows and patronize our businesses or just have a great time looking and learning! We appreciate you so much!
    There are a couple of other similar points I have thought of mentioning myself, as well:
    1. Please don't loudly complain about how expensive an animal is, it's just kind of off-putting and unnecessary especially when you're not even planning to purchase and you're just there to try to hold animals. I get a lot of people asking about why an animal is this price or that price, and it's fine they're curious, but usually they're not considering buying any of the animals and often it's not so much a good-natured question as a statement that an animal is expensive. I have a couple species that generally run for quite a bit, so to alleviate this I am considering making a sign about it due to how often this occurs.
    2. Please don't grab animals off the table without asking. (Parents will do this to show it to kids in strollers, etc.)
    3. If there is a potential customer holding an animal, please don't rush over and also take the animal assuming it's a free-for-all, especially without taking any hand sanitizer- to connect to your point about holding animals.
    4. Please don't take handfuls of business cards, especially if you're not actually planning to buy from me. They cost a lot of money to print, and when you take 5 for all of your kids, that means I have less to hand out to truly interested customers.

      @JasonsExoticReptiles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      What's up man! And no you were fine. I actually enjoy that type of stuff. I was having a hard time describing that type of situation because most people ask like you did. And that's perfectly fine. It's more if we were talking about a snake I had for weeks and then you back out and buy he same thing from someone else then come back to me for info. It happens alot. Basically they use me for info. Then go buy from some random person. Then want to use me for info again. Even then it's not always bad but some people do this regularly. Even then I dont mind helping, but I can only tell so much about an animal that I have never seen.

    I do hope in the coming year that you will attend a show or shows in the CT area. I so would love to buy a Boa from you. After listening to you you, they seem like wonderful snakes who can be tamed by earning their trust. Do you ever sell older boas?

    • @JasonsExoticReptiles
      @JasonsExoticReptiles  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      thank you! To my knowledge, there are no shows in Connecticut but there are some in New York Massachusetts and New Hampshire which I regularly attend. I also travel back and forth between Massachusetts and New York often so if you are looking for a boa shipping is usually about $25 to Connecticut and I do pass through there so we could always drop off in person. I should have all kinds of cool stuff coming up this year. I don't typically sell older snakes since baby cell so quickly for me. The only exception is if I have an older breeder and I'm looking to change directions or if I raised a breeder and they didn't prove out to be what I was trying it to be with possible hets

Only the parents with a little kids that want their kids to experience holding snakes that makes it difficult

When I ask nicely could you please move so I can see the table, they gave me this look like I was such an asshole and that I shouldn't be there. Meanwhile they're talking about stuff with each other from like 10 tables away. Sellers just looking at me apologizing about them and it's not even his fault.
    Also I hate it when I'm looking at something and someone get in my way to take pictures when I'm looking to buy something. Also if I want to take a picture I always ask the vendor first if it's okay cuz some people don't like it

    You should make a video about the same thing but from the buyers point of view, like as a buyer we don’t like when we see an animal that we want to buy and are trying to inquire about it all while you guys/gals are speaking to your partners or personal friends about things not related to the show because we aren’t there to hear peoples life problems and also its very hard trying to make a purchase as it is with all the commotion but like don’t look at me and think oh he isn’t going to buy because honestly you don’t know... and honestly i’m not speaking directly about you but i have most definitely had problems in the past where a vendor may see a more famous vendor and completely take their attention away from me.. also we do not like when famous vendors walk around during our time pointing animals out saying put that on hold for me later... i get you want to do business and it’s about money but it’s not fair for us... do that before the show starts... cause that makes us pretty sour and at that point all of your animals become irrelevant and then we are forced to purchase elsewhere. - just my opinion

    Is it rude to ask seller if you can doublecheck the snakes sex? Like with small boas its easy, and i'm that kind of person that likes to doublecheck after someone before buying. Is it ok?

    • @JasonsExoticReptiles
      @JasonsExoticReptiles  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not necessarily, but my thought on that is that if you need to ask the seller to double-check the sex, then they are probably not somebody you want to be buying from. That's something that I do without being asked. That's something that a good breeder would sex properly to begin with so they would be no need. Most of the time when the snakes are not sexed properly it's because the guy is a complete hack or he is just the middleman pumping snakes from one source to the next. You always need to have confidence in who you buy from. If you don't trust them enough to sex the snake properly then what else could go wrong when you take that snake home. Does it actually eat, does it have mites or not, is it even healthy to begin with Etc.
      So no, it's not rude oh, but it does show it's more of an Impulse Buy as you haven't done the research on the breeder or seller to give you the confidence that they are good people to purchase from.

      @@JasonsExoticReptiles You right. But i'm from Poland, and our shows are bit smaller, and often if you want to buy less popular morph you have to buy it from breeder that you don't really know. if you see snake that you've been thinking of on one of the shows. Ofcourse you can lern a lot about the breeder just by talking to him, but still, i'm that type of person, that would want to doublecheck just for the peace of mind in that kind of situation. Problably you could wait, do the research about the breeder and after that ask him to send it tou you, but isn't it better for snake, to buy it on the show and transport it ASAP to good housing conditions (in here postoffice is bit slow some times)? Anyway, thanx for fast and complex answer. I really apriciate your channel and knowledge you give. Big props.

      @@EmikaeRdm absolutely understood. There are always exceptions and times when you need to purchase from people you don't fully know specifically if good situations pop up like what you mentioned. Again, I don't necessarily think it's rude. But just because they sex it twice or even ten times doesn't necessarily mean that it is going to be sacked accurately. A lot of times the people at those shows are just the workers and they don't really have some great experience sexing snakes. I'm not sure what the market is like in Poland. And thank you very much for checking out the videos.
