A Walk Through Berlin - Mitte Part 1 (Friedrichstraße, Checkpoint Charlie)

Checkpoint Charlie has appeared in a number of thrillers and spy novels, ranging from James Bond's Octopussy to The Spy Who Came In From The Cold. It is located on the corner of Friedrichstraße and Zimmerstraße and serves as a reminder of the previous border crossing, the Cold War, and Berlin's split. The barrier and checkpoint booths, as well as the flag and sandbags, are all modeled on the original site and are popular photo subjects. It's no surprise that Checkpoint Charlie is one of Berlin's must-see attractions.
