It's funny. Almost three years after you posted this, I started watching a bunch of your videos and decided to buy myself a nice deck. I ran across a deck of Theory11 Monarchs in blue and had to have them just for the tuck case. When I realized how nice the cards are, I wondered if you had ever done a review on them and here I am. I have to say, I feel even better about my purchase.

I love bicycle cards because they are cheap but great.
l have only three good reasons to go on TH-cam. Music, music, and chris Ramsay. The time of videos l feel like "at home", "à la maison" we say in french, with a good friend. A real respect for you chris, you seem to be a really honest and human guy.

Hey Chris, thanks for the video. I am a writer and if I ever getting around to write something along the lines that deal with playing cards, well I'm grateful for your channel cause you are so passionate and go into detail with your love of playing cards. I wish I could afford these cards, they're so beautiful.
When I saw the monarch deck was in your top five I smiled. I love my monarch deck. I don't use them that often though because like you said in the video it feels almost like a sin when using them.
Can you do more playing card videos in the future? Btw copped those red joints... not gonna lie one of the best decks I can remember in recent history. Great vid dude.
how do you determine when a deck is done and then grab another? ive been toying with a standard bicycle deck for a few days and beating them up pretty good but to me they seem just fine. but i understand that you may think theyre toasted by now
I know this is late, but I thought I would let you know just in case you haven’t found out yet. (By the way, this is all just my opinion based on doin card tricks for several years) For me there is a window of time between when the deck is brand new and crisp and when the deck is too worn to be any good for most tricks. A lot of tricks take advantage of a crisp new deck of cards, and after you get to a certain point the cards are really weak and flimsy. Another way that cards can be done for is if they get stained or deformed. I use cards a very large amount of the time, so I tend to need a new deck every couple of months for various reasons. Certain decks can also become unideal because they get used to the point where they don’t interact well with other cards in the deck.
Personally if my decks start clumping then I'll just pop them back in the tuck case and leave them in a cold room for a few months and that usually gets them back to how they were, as for bends a card press might be a good investment.

@@danielchemaly1639 There isn’t really a set path to follow, but there is a kind of loose path that I like to take. I like to open up with a trick that I am fairly confident with, then go into a few other tricks that might be a little flashier or that I might not be so confident with so I can gauge reactions and get practice with them. Once I am ready to finish, I try to end it with one of my best tricks. If you need to learn any tricks or maybe how to feel more comfortable in social situations, I recommend the TH-cam channels Scam Nation and SankeyMagic. Scam Nation helped me when I was starting to get into magic (although it was called Scam School when I first started), and I still go back to both of those channels to learn new tricks or for ideas on different ways to do the same tricks. As you get more experienced with card tricks, you will start to develop kind of your own flow with it. I hope this was helpful and that you have a good day.

I recently got back into playing cards. This is the first vid I clicked on reviewing cards and was blown away. I have always been into cards ever since I was a kid. As a kid I would mow grass to get a new deck at the local country store. I always had this cool dark feeling as if I was a gangster or old west card shark lol. Great vid! Thanks

I wondered Chris, do you like your 1st cards or your memento mori cards better? I am a kid that just started getting into magic by watching spidey hypnosis and you to learn some card tricks. I just got into collecting cards and don't have either of yours but I want both, which one would you recommend? Or which deck of cards, even if they aren't either of yours, would you recommend? Also, if anybody else reading this has any suggestions, please feel free to respond.

Just bought a pack of each of David Blaine's cards just to compare them. They were too beautiful to decide between, even with the recommendation! I especially like the look of the Black Gators! Can't wait to get them and actually use them!

5. Bee Erdnaseum deck, love that borderless wermback design and they are so smooth.
4. Monarchs, clean, regal and some of the best handling cards I have ever owned.
3. Vintage plaid deck, I fell in love with the design and colors, rich and feels great in the hand.
2. Bicycle Dragon backs, loved the back design, looks great but at the same time not super crazy and over detailed, love the gold and red ones.
And finally...
1. Bicycle White Ghost deck, one of my first decks of cards and still my favorite, they are so beautiful, the pale whiteness and when the sun shines down on them they just vanish.They really are amazing, just sad that Ellusionist doesn't print the UV500 airflow versions anymore. Those were the best.

I'm here because I recently played Poker with my sister and her husband. He pulled out a deck his mother got him from Vegas (which is also the brand name of the deck itself) It was made of a gold colored plastic that looked so elegant and beautiful I had to find something like that for myself. When I was dealing, the cards slid across the table like a fresh razor across your skin. Other times I deal with lower quality decks and they just grind to a halt or wind face up on the table. I don't know why but I really want one of those decks.

I work at an elementary and I’m teaching my kids how to shuffle and play games with cards but they have been wanting to learn how to fancy their shuffling and what not and your vids have helped :) specially this one because at the end of the year I’m buying them some fancy cards.... maybe some white or black lions ... all Depends 😜

I have a deck of Bicycle Prestige cards. They’re not expensive (like 10 bucks) and they come in a nice case and the cards themselves feel really really nice. They’re 100% plastic so they glide and bend really easily. It’s a great deck for the price

I've not used any of these but off the back of your previous review am trying to find some of David's Lions - I like how they bring an artistic nature to the deck, something more than just a deck of cards so probably my favourite from this list.

That Kings card with the gaff card is actually badass. Respect that. The gold Skull joker of the Red Wheels is really eye catching, reminded me of Día De Los Muertos. I never seen the White Lions but they look nice

Great review. I have a few Cherry Casino decks. And a few of your Ellusionist Decks-- In Gold and in Red. Also-- whenever I can find Monarchs on sale I buy a deck-- so now I have around 12-15 Monarch decks in different colors. Great top 5! I keep hearing about the Cherry Casino deck, will check out. I don't disagree, just wanted to give my personal top 5: 5. Ellusionist Artifice- Nice thick gorgeous cards. 4. Aristocrat Casino Cards- Just... Wow. Especially if you can find an unclipped deck! 3. Theory 11 Artisans- One of my performance decks. They seem to last forever and I love the box and back design. (Only the black color though, not a fan of the white color). 2. Madison Rounders- Elegant and classy. Always reminds me of the card version of a tuxedo. They are almost too slippery at first but once they get broken in they are perfect. They also last a really long time. 1. David Blaine Split Spades/Lions- DB's decks are just incredible. They feel & handle amazing! I really love the Split Pades back design with the angel covering her eyes while holding a sword. I also love the Lions design too.
