  • At Ciara's Cafe you will find an unusual mix of characters who work to make up their own special community.
This is an animated film about social inclusion created as part of a joint initiative between St. Peter and Paul's N.S., Sraide and The Michael Davitt Museum, Co. Mayo. This is an outreach programe piloting the first ever social justice flag and honoring the work of Michael Davitt.
The flag aims at developing awareness of social justice at the primary school level. The four key aims are to develop a sense of empathy, creativity, inclusion, and diversity, and also create opportunities to break barriers. Thanks to Creative Ireland, funding was granted for four artists to work with the students on these themes, this film is the result of the project by artist Carmel Balfe of Little Gem Puppets. The museum will host a fully inclusive art exhibition of the four projects in June 2023.
Evaluations of the project will be carried out by an independent assessor, which has been funded by the Mayo North East-Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) to establish its legitimacy and roll out to schools nationwide in the near future.
