Hey bro. And everyone else This is wrong way of putting in. Don’t tied the bolts until both ends seated The coupler should go up all the way toward the steering wheel( that’s what the extra length of space for)then pull down to line up to the steering rack and finally bolted up. No need to mess up with unbolt the rack.
I can vouch for this im doing mine right now and theres no need to unbolt the steering rack. The part slides up and youre able to line up the slots and slide it back down.
@@famus801God bless you guys because there is absolutely ZERO % chance mine was moving without the steering rack coming off. And who cares anyway? It’s two bolts. After finally splitting the u joints, reinstalling, I could get it to SLIGHTLY move up on the top shaft but definitely not all the way up or down. To get it fully down on the racks splines, I had to hammer hard on the u-joint for it to slide back all the way. It was the absolute only way and pawinning had a video as well on this where he too at a minimum needed to unbolt and move the rack.
Bro u showed everything but the installation of the steering column being installed to the rack. I’m trying to find videos on how u can reinstall the column on my e36.
It took so long that my camera died at the time. Make sure to line up the rack slot with the plastic piece and slide the rack forward if you have it off that far and try to slide the stem from the steering wheel a little back aswell. It’s not a perfect fit but more so a angled connection until it sits in perfectly. I afterwards used a 2x4 to hammer on the rack and not damage it.
Yea i was stuck either hammering on the bottom piece first to the rack then installing the column but then the column broke in half soo i wanna make sure im doin it right next time lol
